Collegiate recovery is support for students in recovery from addictive behaviors who are seeking a degree in higher education. Collegiate recovery programs have been around for decades on a few campuses, and research from these well established collegiate recovery programs shows that recovering students have some of the highest GPAs and retention rates on campus. VCU’s collegiate recovery program
is small but vital, and stakeholders throughout the university are eager to support this effort. At Rams in Recovery we are students looking to create a supportive and confidential community based in recovery from drug and alcohol addiction or any other addictive behavior. We want to be a resource for information about addiction, foster an environment where students can succeed academically and in their recovery, and help other students feel safe and understood. Our goal is to be an active group which celebrates all that recovery in college can be. Ongoing Rams in Recovery Events:
Fun activities: Movie night, Outdoor Adventure trips including camping and stand up paddleboarding, end of year dinner, kickoff bonfire, Welcome Week activities including ice cream socials
While Rams in Recovery primarily serves people living in recovery, members welcome VCU students who are friends and allies of people in recovery and are interested in socializing with people who have chosen to live without alcohol, drugs, and other addictive behaviors.
