Military Order of the Purple Heart Chapter 1965 - Greater Richmond If you are a combat wounded veteran or current member of the Armed Services and have received the Purple Heart medal you are part of our group.

Families of Purple Heart recipients are also welcome Chartered by Congress in 1958, The Military Order of the Purple Heart is composed of military men and women who received the Purple Heart Medal for wounds suffered in combat. Although our membership is restricted to the combat wounded, we support all veterans and their families with a myriad of nation-wide programs by Chapters and National Service Officers.

Virginia War Memorial’s Veterans Day Student Essay Contest

“A Virginian Who Served In The Military Who Inspires Me”

Virginia middle & high schoolers - public, private & homeschooled - are invited to submit a 500-750 word essay on any Virginian who served in any branch of the U.S. Armed Forces, anywhere in the world, from World War II to present day.

Monetary prizes will be given by the Military Order of the Purple Heart – Department of Virginia to the High School and Middle School winners.
