National Administrative Professionals' Day recognizes and praises secretaries, administrative assistants, receptionists, and other administrative support professionals and office runners. Many of these workers rely heavily on email for their jobs to communicate with people inside and outside their organization.

Ray Tomlinson, whose birthday falls on today, April 23rd, was the computer programmer who created the first email program in 1971. Let us commemorate those who contribute to making our work days run smoother.

American Indian and Alaska Native mothers are 2-3% more likely to die from pregnancy-related causes than their non-Hispanic white counterparts (NIH). Twice as many AI/AN mothers experience postpartum depression compared to their non-Hispanic white counterparts. This is just one minority group affected by racial disparities, which is why we have months like National Minority Health Month to raise awareness and work towards an end to these systematic life threatening disadvantages.

Thank you to everyone who contributed to our NICU Esther Eboade Project. Together we were able to provide 300 care baskets to mothers, babies, and care teams of all races across 18 NICU units in Virginia. https://mywoc.org/

Thank you to our 2025 NICU Esther Eboade Project volunteers and donors for helping us help NICU mothers and their care teams. You surely took some weight off their shoulders with your kindness.

If you are dealing with overbearing stress, feel free to check out our mental health resources on our website. If your stress is tied to physical health, food insecurity, or a lack of educational resources, we have resources available for those too. https://mywoc.org/local-resources/

In the United States, Black women are 3% more likely to die from pregnancy-related causes compared to white women (CDC 2020), and 50% more likely to have a preterm birth compared to white and Hispanic women (CDC 2022). Black Maternal Health Week is here to remind us of these racial disparities to build a better America.
Thank you to everyone who donated and volunteered for our 2025 NICU Esther Eboade Basket Project. We were able to serve 18 hospitals with over 300 care baskets for NICU mothers, babies and their nurses!

Happy National Student Employment Week! Thank you for your hardwork and dedication!

WoMen of Connections Ministry has many diligent student workers. Our organization depends on the amazing work of our student employees, interns, and volunteers.

“Being a student worker allows me to have a productive break from my studies and put certain skills that I’ve learned in school to use,” said Jessica, one of our federal work study students from VCU.

Happy World Health Day! Today kicks off WHO’s year-long campaign urging governments and health communities to prioritize infant and maternal health. (https://www.who.int/campaigns/world-health-day/2025)

What better way to celebrate than with the 2025 Esther Eboade Basket Project! As we spend our day delivering care baskets to Richmond hospitals, we have 87 more baskets left to make this weekend. If you’re feeling charitable, we’re in need of baby hats and blankets to complete our baskets. Thank you to everyone who came out the past 3 weekends and made 243 baskets! Thank you to everyone who has made donations! This would not be possible without the dedication and kindness of our community.

We have UI-UX designers from all around the world at WoMen of Connections Ministry! Our UI-UX team works diligently to provide an enjoyable experience on our online spaces.

“My UI/UX Design responsibilities at WOC involve a collaborative and iterative process. I start by brainstorming and conceptualizing design solutions, followed by research to validate ideas and understand user needs. I then create wireframes, prototypes, and visual designs, working closely with other design members,” said Subhika Gupta, another international student from India on our team.

“This is a great opportunity to gain hands-on experience, build a portfolio, and earn volunteer hours while making a meaningful impact,” Sanath said.

If you’re interested in joining our UI-UX team, contact us at [email protected].
