The Matt Davis Foundation was established to provide an annual scholarship to a Douglas Freeman HS senior who best exemplifies Matt's qualities as well as supporting organizations that provide comfort and care to cancer patients and their families.

Congrats to our 2026 Matt Davis Award recipient Grayden Thouron!!

Grayden was a four year member of the Freeman basketball and also an all-region golfer who will attend Virginia Tech next year.

Freeman’s basketball coach Chapin George raved about being able to coach Grayden for four years and called him “the perfect recipient for this award.” He remarked on his team first attitude, work ethic, willingness to improve and play the roles the team required.

We are excited to have Grayden as our 33rd Matt Davis Award recipient!

Thank you to everyone who came out and was a part of our 16th Matt Davis Foundation Day with Randolph-Macon Men’s Basketball. It was another great afternoon with our friends and supporters, a big Yellow Jackets win and a successful raffle. Thank you to R-MC for having us and for Chik-fil-A and West End restaurants Caffespresso, Chianti, Sports Page Goochland and Rare Olde Times for their donations and support. Also thank you to Coleman Brothers as always for their beautiful flowers and Ukrop’s for the ever popular White House Rolls.

We hope to see you Saturday for the 16th Matt Davis Foundation Day with Randolph-Macon Men’s Basketball when the Yellow Jackets host Averett at 2 pm. We’ll have our $500 gift card raffle at the game and post game reception in Birdsong with door prizes and more. See you then!

Today marks the 30th anniversary of Matt’s passing but through the continued generosity and support from so many of you his memory continues to live on. We appreciate everyone who has helped make that happen. We are touched and Matt would be beyond humbled that we will be in our 30th year in 2026 continuing to give an award in Matt’s name and helping support cancer patients and their families. We miss Matt and think of him often but are extremely proud of the legacy he left that we can still celebrate him all these years later.

As always we love hearing your memories of Matt so please feel free to share.

We’re excited to announce our 17th Matt Davis Foundation Day with Randolph-Macon Men’s Basketball on Saturday, February 14 vs Averett at 2 pm. Come show us some love on Valentine’s Day for our biggest fundraiser of the year. We hope to see you there!
