I'm the Sri Lanka Country Specialist for Amnesty International USA. On Dec. 14, I sent a message to the administrators of this page asking if it'd be okay for me to post a message on your wall. I haven't gotten a response yet. Perhaps somehow they never saw my message. I was hoping to ask everyone on this page for help with Amnesty's work on enforced disappearances in Sri Lanka, We have an online petition for the disappeared in Sri Lanka (at bit.ly/2v4PwX2). My message also asked for help with Amnesty's campaign for the disappeared Sri Lankan journalist Prageeth Eknaligoda. He disappeared after leaving work on Jan. 24, 2010; two days earlier, he had published an article critical of then President Mahinda Rajapaksa. Amnesty is supporting Sandya, Prageeth's wife, in her campaign to get the Sri Lankan government to account for his whereabouts and for justice. We have a photo action for Prageeth, which could be done by a lot of people or just one person. With the photo action, people take photos of themselves or others holding a sign saying " ?" (in English or another language) and then post them online (or just send them to me and I'll post them). I've been posting a photo from the photo action each day on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook and tweet a photo each day to the Sri Lankan government, and could always use more photos. I'm hoping that our continued publicity about Prageeth will pressure the Sri Lankan government to provide justice in his case. Directions for how to participate in the photo action (along with a sample sign) can be found at bit.ly/PragEknPA. Thanks for your consideration and for any help you can give with these actions. Good luck with all of your human rights work.

Up to 100,000 people have been made to “disappear” in Sri Lanka over the past 35 years. The Sri Lankan government must implement its promises to provide truth and justice to the relatives of the disappeared.
