Some of the most important figures of the American Revolution never made the textbooks.

The Woman's Club of Richmond opened its 2026 - 2027 Program season Monday
with Chrisman Family Foundation Speaker Chair and bestselling author Denise Kiernan. The lively discussion based on her book Obstinate Daughters 📖 brought back the often-overlooked rebels, writers, spies, printers, preachers, and farm women whose labor, courage, and cunning helped turn the tide of liberty, on the battlefield and at home.

Kiernan, author of the New York Times bestsellers The Girls of Atomic City and The Last Castle, weaves their lives into one compelling story and asks us to reconsider who made the American experiment possible.

A fitting read for a club built and sustained by generations of determined women.

🎉The Woman’s Club of Richmond · Bolling Haxall House
Preserving the past for the future.

The Auditorium is open again, and it was a smashing success.🎉

On September 24, more than 200 members, community partners, and wedding vendors filled the Bolling Haxall House for the unveiling. Smiles, awe, and sheer joy as guests stepped into the renovated space for the first time.

Guided by the research, vision, and talent of Club member Nita Enoch, the Auditorium returns to its historic grandeur with modern upgrades. Ready for its next chapter as the heart of our Home.

Local coverage followed, including front-page attention in the Richmond Times-Dispatch and a feature in The Richmonder. A reminder of what this house means to downtown Richmond. Much we can all be proud of.
