Coach Nickey is a force. As our National Trainer and event emcee, she brings the fun. But she also brings her fierceness, reminding participants to be bold and embrace who they are. Not extra. Extraordinary.

Today is the last day of Black Philanthropy Month. 🖤

Organizations serving Black communities receive less than 1% of total charitable giving, even as they do some of the most transformative, on-the-ground work in our communities. That statistic is exactly why Girls For A Change exists, and exactly why it needs you.

For over two decades, GFAC has prepared Black girls for the world, and the world for Black girls through Camp Diva Leadership Academy, Girl Action Teams, Immersion Lab, Girl Ambassador, and Peer Advisor. None of that happens on 1%.

Let's close out Black Philanthropy Month by changing what that number looks like ➡️ https://raisedonors.com/girlsforachange/donategfac

Our parents are some of our largest cheerleaders, which is why we launched the Parent Power Champions Committee this year. This community of GFAC parents show up for each other and for participants. Through connection, shared experience, and collective action, our parents build relationships, trade wisdom, and turn care into action.

Did you know that nationally less than 2% of charitable funding reaches Black-led and Black-benfitting organizations? In 2018, a group of young, Black philanthropists decided to change that, and Black Giving Day was born.

Today we're asking you to be a part of that legacy. Everyday we work to provide the mentorship, support, and access that young, Black girls need. This Black Giving Day, you can show up for them in several ways.

✨🖤 The BLK RVA Awards 🖤✨

Sistah Angela was nominated for the Rooted Community Impact Award this year but that's not all there was to see at the BLK RVA Awards! Alumna Kayla Monet lit up the stage with an incredible performance, and GFAC parters and friends got their time in spotlight as well! Mad Skillz took home Moment of the Year for his Grammy-winning work, Todd B. Waldo took home an award for the Shockoe Institute, Elegba Folklore Society performed, and Clovia Lawrence Emceed. What a night!

ICYMI: We're BACK from Ghana, and now it's time to storytell about our experiences.

Participants returned with footage, stories, and a whole new understanding of identity, home, and the African diaspora. Now they need some help from the community to turn their experiences into short documentaries in preparation for the Black Girl Rally.

We're in need of film editors, filmmakers, storytellers, and creative professionals to mentor participants. We are also in need of donations to help with filmmaking costs. Learn more ➡️ https://heyor.ca/LxsBiW

During our candle making class, Kennedy gained a new friend and a powerful moment of connection — guiding a Future of Africa student behind the camera and showing her what’s possible through sisterhood.

Our Her Journey Home participants had the honor of visiting Ashesi University in Ghana, a renowned institution known for cultivating ethical, entrepreneurial leadership across Africa. There they were immersed in the curriculum, engaged with students and faculty, and used their new filming skills to take a couple of shots for their post-travel documentary.

This is just the beginning of their story, and we need your help to tell it. We're raising $100k to produce the full documentary capturing our participants' journey, growth, and the powerful moments like this one at Ashesi University. Show your sustained support and make a donation ➡️ https://heyor.ca/ZPCMx4
