Recycling Today, Building Homes Tomorrow! 🏡 🗑️
Habitat for Humanity and Novelis are proving that something as simple as recycling can make a real difference for families and for our environment.

Through Novelis’ partnership with Habitat for Humanity, recycled aluminum helps generate funding that supports Habitat’s mission of building safe, affordable homes. Aluminum that might otherwise be thrown away can instead become part of a cycle of good: it is collected, recycled, and given new life while helping provide resources for families working toward homeownership.

The partnership also reminds us that caring for our community and caring for our environment can go hand in hand. Recycling aluminum conserves natural resources, reduces waste, and supports a more sustainable future, all while helping Habitat build strength, stability, and hope through housing.

Every can recycled may seem like a small act, but together those small acts add up. With partners like Novelis, recycling becomes more than keeping materials out of the landfill - it becomes another way to help build homes, strengthen communities, and create a better future.

Yesterday, we were honored to celebrate the groundbreaking of the Primrose family’s future Habitat home! The ceremony was filled with community, joy, and excitement for all that lies ahead.

From Mayor Reed and our city commissioners, to community leaders, the Wi******er Fire Department, Habitat board members, friends, and neighbors, we were surrounded by people who make Wi******er such an incredibly special place to call home.

This groundbreaking is just the first step of many as we work together to build not only a house, but a place the Primrose family can call home for generations to come.

We are so grateful to everyone who came out to celebrate this milestone and help us welcome the Primrose family into this wonderful community.

Now, let’s build! 🔨🏡💚

For more than a decade, Novelis has supported and partnered with Habitat for Humanity. Since 2020, Novelis has sponsored an annual Habitat Affiliate Recycling Challenge, in which Habitat affiliates across the U.S. and Canada. As part of the challenge, Habitat affiliates lead communitywide aluminum recycling campaigns, while establishing sustainable funding sources through the value of recycling aluminum for home builds and refurbishments.

Novelis employees across North America also participate in various home builds and repairs with Habitat for Humanity as part of the company’s global Novelis Volunteer Month each October.

So far this year, Habitat for Humanity’s A Brush With Kindness Program has completed 17 critical home repair projects for low-income homeowners. These repairs have addressed safety, accessibility, and basic maintenance needs, allowing families to remain safely and independently in their homes.

The completed projects include:

🔨 6 new decks with wheelchair ramps, which we built and stained to provide safe and accessible entrances.
🔨 3 wheelchair ramps without decks, improving accessibility for homeowners with mobility challenges.
🔨 2 gutter repairs/replacements, helping protect homes from water damage and improve drainage.
🔨 3 window repairs/replacements, addressing safety, weatherization, and home maintenance needs.
🔨 3 yard clean-up projects, including work to correct flooding issues and improve drainage around the homes.

These projects have improved accessibility, reduced safety hazards, helped prevent further damage to homes, and allowed low-income homeowners to remain in safe and stable housing. In many cases, a relatively small investment in a critical repair can make a significant difference in a family’s quality of life. A wheelchair ramp can allow a homeowner to safely enter and leave their home. Proper gutters and drainage can prevent costly water damage. A repaired window can improve both safety and energy efficiency. These are practical improvements with an immediate and lasting impact.
