Scott’s Addition is the City of Richmond’s fastest growing neighborhood. It's home to a unique mix of apartments and homes, along with locally owned small businesses like restaurants, breweries, retailers, health & fitness studios, and construction and manufacturing companies. Originally, Scott's Addition was part of the Mayo family Plantation. Major General Winfield Scott, a hero of the War of 1812 and the Mexican War received the property as a dowry when he married Elizabeth Mayo. Throughout the 19th Century, Broad Street was Richmond's primary turnpike and the railroad was a significant part of the area. At the turn of the 20th Century businesses anxiously moved from downtown to Scotts Addition because of the central transportation center served by streetcars, the railroad, and the highways. Binswinger Glass and Curles Neck Dairy were two of the early businesses in the area. "Addition" is a word that was used to describe an addition to the city grid. In the early 20th Century the area was annexed to the City of Richmond. The boundaries of Scott's Addition remain unchanged from its early history. The neighborhood is bounded on the south by Broad Street, on the east by The Boulevard, on the north by the railroad tracks, and on the west by Interstate 195.

We are blown away by the love, generosity, and community spirit shown this summer through our Raise a Glass. Build a Park. Give Back Event series — and it’s all because of YOU and our incredible local businesses! 🥂💚

This summer, Scott’s Addition’s restaurants, bars, coffee shops, and local businesses rallied together to support the Capital Region Land Conservancy’s fundraiser to acquire Christie’s Garden as our neighborhood’s first permanent public park — and the results speak for themselves:

Every pint poured, every latte crafted, every mile covered, and every meal shared this summer was a vote for a greener, more connected Scott’s Addition. That means everything to us. 🏡✨

BUT — we’re not done yet. 💪
As of October 2026, we still need to raise ~$180,000 to close the remaining gap and make Christie’s Garden a permanent public park for our neighborhood. Every dollar gets us one step closer to the finish line!

Our next great GSAA business member has a newly expended space in 3007 W Clay St (suite A) 👀

Dawnstar ⭐️ is video game & gaming library of Richmond with a selection of consoles, cards and collectibles. Their staff are some of the most knowledgeable (and friendly) in the game.

DID WE MENTION? THEY’RE open every day (it’s so hard to find things open on a Monday here).

We’re looking for passionate, committed neighbors and community members to join the volunteer Greater Scott’s Addition Association (GSAA) Board of Directors! 🏘️💚

GSAA is the driving force behind the events, advocacy, improvements, and community connections that make our neighborhood special — and we need YOUR energy, ideas, and leadership to keep it growing!

As a GSAA Board Member, you’ll:
🎉 Help plan and host public meetings and neighborhood social events
🌳 Advocate for parks, public spaces, and livability improvements
🏛️ Engage directly with city leadership and the Second District Council Office
📣 Champion local businesses and residents who make SA what it is
🤝 Advance the Greater Scott’s Addition Small Area Plan

Whether you’re a longtime resident, a local business owner or employee, or someone who just moved to the neighborhood and already can’t imagine living anywhere else — we want to hear from you! Board service is a meaningful way to invest in the community you call home. 🏡

No prior board experience required — just a love for Scott’s Addition and a desire to make it even better! ✨

🏅Board terms start in January and last for a minimum of three years, with expectations for monthly Board meeting attendance (remotely or in-person), attending bi-monthly public meetings, and engaging in neighborhood projects and events.
