Tiny Village Spirit Tiny Village Spirit has developed as a response to the emergency shelter crisis. Tiny Village Spirit is registered as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.

Tiny Village Spirit is a San Francisco Bay Area based project which has developed as a response to the emergency shelter crisis and the giant need for housing justice in California, the US, and globally. We are both promoting construction of tiny house villages as an innovative model for addressing the housing crisis and are also engaged in community organizing of village residents and allies to create systemic change, toward garnering the resources needed to end homelessness.

We are counting the days down in great anticipation for the completion and grand opening of the Richmond Tiny Home Village Farm and Garden.

This missions is to serve unhoused youth in Richmond and we are close to the finish line.

The youth will come from the Coordinated Entry System list which is
Housing and Urban Development mandated.
Hope Solutions is going to accept applications from Richmond young people ages 18 to 24 who are on the list and interview them.

To celebrate this great achievement, we hope you can join us for our Grand Opening scheduled for Sat. Sept 26 at 1pm to 4pm at 175 23rd Street, Richmond, CA.

Thank You to Our Village of Supporters

None of this happens alone. We want to take a moment to recognize some of the organizations, businesses and faith communities who have shown up for us in a big way this summer.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, St. Lucy’s Episcopal Church, and St. Paul’s Episcopal Church for making curtains and decorating tiny houses with care and creativity.

Thank you Leslie Evers, a Berkeley-based business, for donating pillows that match quilts donated by East Bay Heritage Quilters and First Congregation of Berkeley.

Thank you Unitarian Universalist Church of Berkeley for collecting kitchen supplies for our residents.

Thank you The Watershed Nursery Cooperative for donating 12 snowberry plants to the Richmond Tiny Home Village, Farm and Garden. This is a really significant donation as it helps us build native green islands which cool the surrounding area & support our native pollinator populations! Specifically native bees & birds ♥️

Elizabeth Peele has been helping plant, water and harvest vegetables at the Richmond Tiny Home Village, Farm and Garden. As residents will begin to use the space, she hopes this green sanctuary becomes a blessing to their daily lives.

Volunteers transformed the Richmond Tiny House Village, Farm and Garden this weekend, completing major projects that moved the community closer to welcoming residents.

On Saturday, volunteers from the LDS Church, led by Vicki Jones, furnished and decorated the village’s final three tiny houses. Teams hung artwork, installed curtains, laid matching quilts and placed donated Lesley Evers pillows, preparing each home for future residents.

On Sunday, volunteers from St. Lucy’s Episcopal Church, led by the Rev. Emily Hansen Curran, decorated the village yurts, painted oak barrel planters and moved the finished planters into place throughout the farm and garden.

The weekend’s progress relied on dozens of volunteers, including George Berven, who worked throughout Sunday, and Tyler Kirkpatrick, whose leadership alongside the village Steering Committee helped coordinate the effort.

Each completed project brought the village one step closer to opening its doors and welcoming neighbors home.

The youth living here will be selected from the Coordinated Entry System list which is
Housing and Urban Development mandated.
Hope Solutions is going to accept applications from Richmond young people ages 18 to 24 who are on the list and interview them.
They will start the process July 1 and youth move in Aug 1.

A group of Richmond PAL youth are visiting the Richmond Tiny Home Village, Farm and Garden, walking among the painted homes and reflecting on the stories told through the murals.

The youth were challenged to think of a word that resonated with their emotions.

They were given a canvass and which they spray painted with a Loop Colors USA 🌎 color for the background.

Several participants will return weekly to help plant and volunteer at the village, taking part in the ongoing work of building the community.

The visit highlighted a partnership that has grown over time. RPAL has been involved since the earliest planning meetings held in its classrooms, through the first summer cohort that began working the land, and now as the village continues to take shape.

Thank you to RPAL for your collaborative efforts in helping make this village possible. From those first conversations to today’s tour, this partnership has continued to grow and is helping the village bloom into a thriving community.
