LATE night tonight.
We went to the AMC theater in Alexandria to check out a showing of
The reviews are calling this a gory return to the days of slashers brutally killing people in the woods. I'm happy to report that it is exactly that!

But we are a 501c3 mental health nonprofit...so we are here to tell you that this is ACTUALLY a movie about loss, grief, survivors guilt, and confronting (and the damage you do when you don't confront) your past trauma. I appreciate that they took the time to do MORE than just the standard killer in the woods story. That stuff helped make characters you could care about and root for (when you aren't cheering for body parts getting cut off and heads exploding). This is the kind of movie we'd do a podcast episode about (and maybe we will if we can line up an interview, fingers crossed).

We are big fans of and she's great as always. The movie is showing in select AMC theaters around the country, so check it out if its near you!

We were already planning to be near DC to watch a movie when we heard that our friends (Power Rangers Megaforce) and our favorite manager were going to be at a local con....SO we got together for dinner and had a great time! And...our buddy (Power Rangers Dino Charge) showed up to join us!

Always love seeing our Ranger friends! This was fun!!!

Some things have popped up for next weekend!

1. We are simple people...you put in a movie and we are going to watch it. Her new Horror film (about a group of friends on a camping trip who are being hunted by a killer) is coming to select AMC theaters this weekend! We are watching it in Alexandria, VA but check the movie's Instagram to see if it's playing in your area!

2. One of our favorite actresses just got added to !! If you're a Power Ranger fan, make sure to stop by and get a pic and autograph, she's one of the nicest people you could ever meet!

Model Jill Dance (who we love working with) made a great Wonder Woman at an appearance for us this past weekend, and photographer Chris Beasley got some great posed shots of her!

The outfit is by Sugarpuss Clothing! Now that we are working as agents to bring spokesmodels like Jill to conventions and events to elevate the cosplay guest experience, Sugarpuss will be making a lot of the outfits for us!

Stopped by to drop off some flyers to promote our free substance abuse support group that will be held there on August 22nd!
YES, Witchblade TV series star Yancy Butler will be there to share her story of addiction and recovery and we will have representatives from there to help direct attendees towards ongoing care.
Because we're geeks, we also dropped off some autographed Witchblade action figures that ARE FOR SALE. Just talk with the awesome staff at Toy Lair about that.

We got some requests for our models to appear at local events, conventions etc. So now is a good time to tell you that we are planning exactly that! Since the very start of this nonprofit we've had a plan to elevate the concept of what a cosplay guest can be. The models we work with are trained in posing, are experienced in brand promotion and public engagement. It's a step above what a cosplay guest traditionally is. They aren't there to stand around with their friends and criticize the cosplayers who pay to get in. Public relations at events is part of their profession. GWE is maybe the only organization in the country that is rooted in and suited to bridge these worlds. If you have a convention or event and want to elevate the experience for your attendees, contact GWE and we can set up costumed spokesmodel experiences for you!
