American Daughters of Conservation- VA Chapter

American Daughters of Conservation- VA Chapter We are a group of women that have come together to conserve wild game habitat and educate women and young ladies in all things outdoors.

Follow along with the incredible women of the Virginia chapter of the American Daughters of Conservation as we get involved, support one another, and preserve the lands and resources we’ve been blessed with! We are a nonprofit and our proceeds go towards conservation efforts, member education, etc. If you are a woman in the outdoor world whether it’s camping, hiking, fishing, etc... we would love

for you to join us! We are working to build our members and junior members here in the state. We love supporting everyone and giving them likeminded women to collaborate and share their love for the outdoors with. With over 35 State Chapters nationwide, there are PLENTY of women to network with and opportunities open to you.

Happy Earth Day from American Daughters of Conservation 🌿

Caring for our land, water, and wildlife doesn’t have to be complicated. Small, intentional actions add up and make a real impact right where you are.

Here are a few simple ways to celebrate Earth Day today:

🌱 Plant something native
Whether it’s flowers, shrubs, or trees, native plants support local wildlife and pollinators.

🗑️ Pick up litter
Grab a bag and clean up your neighborhood, a local park, or a roadside. Every piece removed protects habitat.

💧 Be mindful of water use
Fix leaks, turn off the tap when not in use, and consider collecting rainwater for your plants.

🐝 Support pollinators
Skip the pesticides and let a section of your yard grow naturally. Bees and butterflies will thank you.

♻️ Reduce and reuse
Choose reusable products when possible and be intentional about what you throw away.

🌾 Support local agriculture
Shop local farms and markets to reduce your footprint and strengthen your community.

Earth Day is a reminder that conservation starts at home and continues wherever your boots hit the ground. Together, we can protect what we love for generations to come.

March is seed-starting season for a lot of the country, but timing depends on where you live. 🌱

If you’re in USDA Zones 3–5 Now is prime time to start seeds indoors for tomatoes, peppers, herbs, and brassicas.

If you’re in Zones 6–7 You’re often starting seeds indoors and direct-sowing cool-season crops like peas, spinach, and greens.

If you’re in Zone 8 and warmer You may already be planting outside, depending on your last frost date.

Know your zone. Read your seed packets. And remember - plants don’t care about the calendar. They care about conditions.

What zone are you growing in?

Think winter is the “off season” for the outdoors? Think again! With the leaves down and fewer people on the trails, winter is one of the best times to spot wildlife. From bald eagles and tundra swans to deer, foxes, turkeys, and owls — Virginia is full of life even in the cold months.

Bundle up, grab a friend, and come see what’s still moving out there. Nature doesn’t hibernate — and neither should we. 🌲✨

Your leadership team put on the layers and hit the trails this weekend at one of our wonderful Virginia State Parks for a few miles of fellowship, views, and planning for more exciting VA chapter events and education for 2026.

Don’t worry about Ciera… shes totally fine. 😅
