On April 6 we will have a short workday to put in ground cover and native perennials to complete our hillside stabilization project. This time no heavy lifting will be involved. Please bring a water bottle and shovels if you have them. Snacks and work gloves will be available. We will only work for 2 hours from 1-3. We hope a few of you can make it! "But thanks to the efforts of volunteers, neighbors and family members of the interred, the sacred ground is getting the respect it deserves."

ALERT:

The Cemetery is sacred space, a fragile archaeological site, and a cultural landscape transcending past and present, and bridging nature and the built environment.

Cobbles were placed as subtle markers at many of the graves in the cemetery. The recently collected rocks set at Queenie Bradford's marble headstone were likely removed from marking others' places of rest.

Please leave anything you may come upon where it lies when visiting 🙏🏾

This past Thursday was a beautiful, peaceful evening to take a walk on the updated path through the cemetery. The recently installed signage is so informative and looks wonderful. The many improvements in recent months are a fitting tribute to the men and women who rest here.

On the first day of Spring, we got word of a young volunteer for Sons and Daughters of Ham's "Munchin' Bunch Clean-up Crew". This kid just needs to be more mature than 1 week old. Maybe they'll be able to herd visitors to the traditional National Buffalo Soldier's Day Twilight Memorial service on July 28. Mark the date. More information soon.
