Thank you so much to everyone who came out to Texas Beach! Y'all killed it and everyone showed improvement which is awesome! Skate parks can definitely be intimidating, but we showed up and out. Keep checking back for our next group skate and community cleanup in December:)

A couple pictures of the group before our first group skate last Thursday! Thank you so much for those who came out, despite a couple kinks and some traffic you all killed it and looked AMAZING! It was magical skating down the street and being surrounded by such a supportive and powerful group of womxn. For those who couldn't make it, look out for updates we'll post soon about our next event (our first skate clinic!!!) and upcoming community service project (tbd)

FIRST GROUP SKATE TOMORROW! MONROE PARK 6PM

Meet: a little before 6 pm at Monroe Park on the corner of Laurel and Main St. FInd us by the gazebo! Please try and get there as close to 6 as possible so we can have a quick chat, group pic, and then go skate and enjoy the beautiful evening.

MASKS ARE REQUIRED! for the safety and comfort of all skaters. We know skating and wearing a mask can be a lot, but thank you for being respectful of this during a pandemic:) We appreciate it!

The route: We picked a route that’s low on traffic flow and relatively smooth, clear, and flat. From the park, we’ll go down Laurel, through Oregon Hill to the Oregon Hill/Belle Isle Overlook, and then up Pine and back to the park. Both Laurel and Pine are one-ways, so we won’t have to worry about oncoming traffic. One leader will be in the front and the other in the back to monitor and make sure we’re good to go spacing and traffic-wise!

Spacing and safety: Know yourself and know your skill and speed level. PROTECTIVE GEAR IS COOL! Especially if you’re new to skating it’s highly encouraged. Hopefully, in the future, we can start a donation pile of pads/etc so those who don’t have their own can borrow but for right now please wear what you have if you feel like you need it. We’ll have a first aid kit on hand in case there are any bumps or bruises. While skating, space more generously than not to avoid any collisions, know your pace, and be aware of those around you!

Lastly, If you’re a beginner and not sure about the first group skate, it’s ok! We will have plenty more and are planning skate clinics for the future so everyone can improve on their skills and get more comfortable getting out there:)

SEE YOU TOMORROW! As usual, dm or comment with questions. PEACE AND LOVE RVA
