Hemlock id help.

They may look similar at first glance, but knowing the difference is key to management and potentially your health!

Poison hemlock and Queen Anne’s lace are both invasive and have white, umbrella-shaped flower clusters, but there are key differences:

🔎 Check the stem:
• Poison hemlock has smooth stems with distinctive purple blotches or streaks.
• Queen Anne’s lace has solid, hairy stems with no purple blotches.

🌼 Look at the flowers:
• Queen Anne’s lace often has a single small dark purple flower in the center of the white cluster (not always, but it’s a good clue).
• Poison hemlock does not.

⚠️ Important: Poison hemlock is highly toxic if ingested and can cause dermatitis. Avoid handling it and use caution around it.

When in doubt, don’t touch. Always look closely at the stem. Accurate ID matters for both safety and management.
