Not to toot our own horn, but James River Greyhounds/Greyt Love Retirement is pretty darn good with matching the best greyhound with each of our adoptive families. Sometimes, however, it just doesn’t work out and the hound gets returned. Such is the case of Rumble, a 2-year-old very handsome and so sweet fawn boy who raced just six times and needs a greyhound sibling to inspire confidence and just to do life with. If you recall from his July posting, he is uber tuned into to his human’s emotions and a big Velcro dog/leaner.
So Rumble is back with his foster family and continues to make great progress. (These observations reflect the current foster environment and may change.)
Things that Rumble is working on:
-Settling & Communication: When overstimulated or after extended petting around his mid-to-back area, Rumble will often look back to signal he's had enough. If interaction continues, he may use a gentle "soft mouth"—briefly placing an open mouth on an arm without pressure to ask for space. Give him a short break and watch his body language; he'll let you know when he's ready for attention again. Prefers not to be crated and may pace when anxious.
He does get startled with loud noises.
-Ideal Home: Rumble would flourish with a family who appreciates a gentle, charming companion and understands his subtle cues. He loves children, but an adult-only home or one with dog-savvy older tweens would suit him best given his size and youthful enthusiasm. He currently lives happily with a calm 11 yr old. A canine companion would be ideal. Needs a home without cats, small animals, or goats. He may do well in a smaller home with plenty of exercise, companionship, and mental stimulation.
đź’ť Rumble is an affectionate boy who has won the hearts of the neighborhood kids! He's eager to keep learning and needs a family who will appreciate just how special he is.
Note that Rumble is not cat or small dog safe. He is currently located in South Carolina.
