In our initiative to support our community and our youth, yesterday we had the pleasure of volunteering with the Girl With Goals Alliance and the Effingham YMCA of Portsmouth,Va to give away 160 turkeys, pies, sides, canned goods and more to families in need in the area!

A Pink October

In fields of pink, we take a stand,
Linked together, hand in hand.
For those we love, for those who fight,
A beacon of strength, a candle’s light.

Through quiet battles none may see,
Through tears and fear, through bravery.
We honor scars that tell the tale,
Of courage that refused to fail.

October blooms in shades so bold,
Stories of warriors, brave and cold.
Yet warm in heart, and fierce in might,
They face the dark, they fight the night.

So wear the pink, and wear it proud,
A color soft, a statement loud.
For every fighter, lost or here,
We walk with hope, we stand with cheer.

This month we commemorate those who are fighting for a cure, fighting for awareness, and fighting for their lives! We honor those who have fought the good fight and were called to rest with the ancestors. We also honor those who fought and are healing…like my mother! She was diagnosed in 2021 and is happily cancer free today!!
