We are turning heads and turning pages 📚
My time as a Miss America Titleholder has officially come to an end. To say I am thankful is an understatement. The past 3 years of my life have been dedicated to this organization. I may not be on stage. I promise to continue finding opportunities to break barriers in new, larger, more radical ways, so PLEASE follow my life journey at .
The best is yet to come. Today marks the end of an era, but the start of an age and now the moments turn to memories, and these are the days I will remember. My time has really, come to an end as a titleholder, but I can say-because of my experience, I have been changed for good.
now it is time for me to pass the crown to another amazing woman and friend of mine . Embrace each moment and live it like it is your last and don’t let anyone or anything dull your sparkle. Enjoy each opportunity and use your resources as a way to embrace and embody all you are.

In 24 hours I will be welcoming all the girls who will be competing for the title of Miss Southern Indiana and I am going to be processing how in a few short hours, I will be taking not only the Miss Southern Indiana Crown off for the last time, but the journey and dream of becoming Miss Indiana will officially be coming to an end. To say I am overwhelmed with emotions is an understatement. It has been an honor to hold this beautiful title and all that I have done with it. I will never be ready to let it go but also so ready to see the legacy of this title. I am the 3rd Miss Southern Indiana and I can’t wait to see not only who #4 will be, but watch this beautiful legacy continue for the years to come.
Competition is this Saturday at 4pm at Salem Middle School.

Now that paperwork for Southern Indiana is closed… I have another pageant I am promoting for, this time with .
One thing I have not announced until now is that this year I was selected to become an official board member for , an organization I have fallen in love with that I found because of my time in MAO. Miss Amazing’s mission is to provide opportunities for girls and women with disabilities to build confidence and self-esteem in a supportive environment. We achieve this mission by nurturing sisterhood, building life skills, and increasing visibility.
We are still looking for participants and volunteers to help us throughout the day.
I have tagged and will be putting the information in my Linktree to learn more and get signed up for February 22nd!
I look forward to seeing these amazing young women show their advocacy, mission, poise, and passions on stage and have an amazing day. There are several age brackets, starting at age 5!
We would love to have people be 1:1 buddies, do hair and makeup, and help the day run through volunteering. There are jobs for people with many different skill sets.

2 weeks left with one of the most amazing opportunities of a lifetime. Crazy to think, this 3 year journey is somehow coming to an end.
Elyssa in 2018, at 22 when the first person said “Elyssa if you decided to compete, you would honestly probably be very good” I laughed.
3-4 months later, when my sorority sister put out a call in our informal Facebook group for a local competition, saying she would help us get ready and “I know 3 weeks sounds likes not enough time to put a talent together”, I assumed she was not talking to me.
The 2019 local season, I got into following the women and admitted all they did and was the first time I “followed” MAO.
2021: I get a DM from a former Miss Indiana to compete. I originally, again, tried to not take the bait- I was to old. Thanks for the compliment. I found out I had 1 more year (jokes on all of us). I sign up for my first local… and it gets canceled.
2022: I compete for the first time with the goal to “not make a fool of myself”. I win and gain so much confidence in who Elyssa is as a person, friendships that I will hold forever, and opportunities I never imagined opening.
Let Miss Southern Indiana competition be the time you say “yes” to yourself. Rather it is your first local, or 20+, let Collegiate South/Southern Indiana be the moment you tell yourself “yes”.

Our and is in Orlando ready to compete at . Bella and Kalyn, I am very comfortable speaking for the state on how proud of you we are. I can not wait to cheer you on this week. No matter what, we are so proud of you and every step of the way have represented what it means to be a Hoosier so well. Enjoy this time, take in the experience, and trust how amazing you are. We are cheering so loud.

As a Jewish American of an interfaith family, December has always been a time filled with family, celebration, and tradition. Today, for the first time since 2005, the first night of Hanukkah was also Christmas. From traditions with my Catholic side of the family, yearly travel, celebrations within the Jewish community of Indy, and time with family- I wish all a wonderful end of year and holiday season to all that celebrate.

Me when I realize that Miss Collegiate South and Miss Southern Indiana is in less than a month. Had a moment yesterday that I have the honor of this crown for one more month- only one more month and all I have been able to do with the crown, and I get to crown the 4th Miss Southern Indiana to continue this legacy.
Miss Southern Indiana and our teen title are open- Collegiate South is open to women attending or have graduated from the following universities.
-Indiana’s southern counties including Rose Hulman, Depauw, Earlham, Hanover, IU East, IU Columbus, IU Southeast, Evansville, USI, Oakland City, St. Mary-of-the-Woods, Ivy Tech, Vincennes, as well as previous year titleholders or graduates from Indiana State or Indiana University.

I’m fine... I’m fine... I’m fine.... Miss Collegiate South and Southern Indiana applications are officially open. Our competition is going to be January 18th at Salem Middle School. I am sad to be giving up this title, but it has been an amazing year and I can’t wait to see who joins the legacy.
