Thanks to funding from the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center, STEAM the Streets will be hosting “This Can Be You: WIND Edition” for no cost at 20 Massachusetts middle and high schools this school year!

This Can Be You: WIND Edition is a high-energy performance featuring careers in wind and clean energy to help students see themselves in these high-growth careers. 🌬️✨

We kicked off our first wind show at Global Learning Charter School in New Bedford for 175 8th and 11th grade students!

Darlease Monteiro, Director of School Culture at Global Learning Charter Public School had this to say about the assembly:

“The content was really important for the kids. Seeing people that look like them—for example, our girls don’t get to see a lot of women in these types of industries, so that was key. The representation matters.”

Hispanic Heritage Month may be coming to a close, but that doesn’t mean we can’t still celebrate! Let’s end on a high note with the “NADA” music video by School Yard Rap! () 🎉

This anthem celebrates the inventive and creative contributions of Latinx inventors and innovators and how we still benefit from many of these innovations today, from alkaline batteries to the artificial heart.

Without Latinx inventors and innovators, we would have NADA! ✊🏽✨

What a day! 🎡🎪

Take a look back at Pogo Park’s Annual Summer Carnival, a day filled with rides, games, music, activities, and plenty of fun for Richmond families and the community.

Held at Elm Playlot, the carnival featured a choo-choo train, mechanical bull, dunk tank, photo booth, pony rides, carnival games, and more, all bringing neighbors together for an afternoon of celebration.

Pogo Park () transforms broken and little-used city parks in one of America’s toughest inner-city neighborhoods, Richmond, California’s “Iron Triangle,” into safe, green, beautiful public spaces for children to play.

Pogo Park is for the community, by the community.✨

STEAM the Streets is looking for a "See It and Be It" Program Coordinator (Richmond, CA area) to join us in supporting our career exploration program in partnership with West Contra Costa Unified School District’s College and Career Department.

We’re looking for someone who is organized, proactive, responsive, and great at building relationships with schools and educators.

You’ll help coordinate across four Richmond-area middle schools, supporting school preparation, site visits, teacher communication, and "This Can Be You" assembly logistics.

STEAM the Streets is excited to announce a new project funded by the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center () to bring the science of offshore wind and marine ecosystems to broader audiences! 🌎✨

In partnership with the University of Connecticut and Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (.ocean), STEAM the Streets will support storytelling around research that examines how electromagnetic fields associated with offshore wind infrastructure may affect sand lances, a keystone forage species in the Stellwagen Bank National Marine Sanctuary ().

Through this work, we’ll continue doing what STEAM the Streets does best: using culturally relevant storytelling to turn unfamiliar careers into possibilities young people can imagine for themselves.
