Awaken Church RVA Awaken Church RVA meets & serves in the Richmond, VA area! Awaken is a contemporary, non-denominational, Christian church serving in the Richmond, VA area.

We are focused on Family (cultivating an authentic community) Outreach (reaching those far from Christ) & Discipleship (equipping & activating those in Christ). We believe and preach the word of God as outlined in the 66 books of the Holy Bible. Our focus is on authentic spiritual growth as individuals and as a church family. This growth results in lives changing, people serving, and God being pla

ced first in all situations. Our church family is diverse, with people from different backgrounds connected through our shared pursuit to become more like Jesus. We are fellowship focused and believe Sunday service should be a launching pad for our congregation to do life together! A common phrase you'll hear during service is "Real Church," which means we don't pretend we have it all together; instead, we embrace authentic relationships through our highs and lows so we can support and encourage one another as we push towards Jesus.

Tomorrow at Awaken Church RVA, Pastor Nicholas Jenkins is continuing our series “Does the Gospel Still Matter?” with Teaching 4: THERE’S NO EXCEPTIONS (Romans 3:1–20)

Paul closes every remaining escape route.

Religious. Irreligious. Moral. Immoral. Jew. Gentile.

Different stories. Same problem. Same need for the Gospel.

We’re going to look at why spiritual privilege can’t save us, how deeply sin reaches into the human condition, and why the Law can expose sin, but can’t save sinners.

And it’s also GROW Sunday - Aug 30th | 10:30 AM | Awaken Church RVA, so plan to stay after service for food, fellowship, and time together as a church family. *Bring a covered dish!

🍽️ MEALS TEAM AND MOTEL MINISTRY ❤️

Sometimes being the hands and feet of Jesus looks like something as simple as preparing a meal, packing a bag, and showing someone they are not forgotten.

Every week, our volunteers come together to serve those in our community who may not otherwise have a meal. We don’t just deliver food—we deliver hope, love, dignity, and a reminder that God sees them. 🙏🏽

🙏🏽 PRAYER IS WORSHIP.

Prayer isn’t just something we do before worship—it is worship. When we pray, we surrender our hearts, acknowledge who God is, and invite His presence into our lives. Prayer is where our hearts connect with the heart of God. ❤️‍🔥

“Pray without ceasing.” — 1 Thessalonians 5:17

“Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you.” — James 4:8

“Call to me and I will answer you.” — Jeremiah 33:3

Don’t just sing about God—talk to Him. Seek Him. Surrender to Him. Worship Him through prayer. 🙌🏽✝️

🔥 TNT — TUESDAY NIGHT TEACHING 🔥

KINGDOM CULTURE: “YOU CAN LOOK RIGHT AND STILL BE WRONG”

📖 Matthew 5:13–20

Tonight’s teaching challenged us to look beyond simply knowing what is right and ask whether we are actually living it.

🧂 YOU ARE THE SALT OF THE EARTH

Salt influences whatever it touches. As followers of Christ, we are called to influence the world around us. But we have to ask ourselves: Where in my walk have I lost my saltiness? Is my faith still impacting the people and places God has put around me?

💡 YOU ARE THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD

Light was never meant to be hidden. Jesus calls us to let our light shine so that others can see His work in us and ultimately glorify our Father in Heaven.

Where is Christ’s work in me affecting others?

🙌 FAITH IS PERSONAL, BUT IT WAS NEVER MEANT TO REMAIN PRIVATE.

Jesus didn’t call us to simply talk about Kingdom culture. He called us to LIVE IT.

Matthew 5 reminds us that Jesus did not come to abolish the Law and the Prophets, but to fulfill them. God’s Word isn't something we get to treat as disposable when it confronts us. Kingdom authority doesn’t come from saying the right things while living in the opposite direction.

❤️ RIGHTEOUSNESS STARTS FROM THE INSIDE OUT.

Jesus isn't calling us to become better performers. He is calling us to surrender, receive the righteousness we cannot produce on our own, and become people who are genuinely transformed by His reign.

Because the world doesn't need another performance.

The world needs authenticity.

You can perform better than you can surrender—but surrender is where transformation begins.

🔥 Don’t just teach it. LIVE IT.
🧂 Be salt.
💡 Be light.
❤️ Walk in authenticity.

🙌 Let Christ’s work in you affect the people around you.

🙌🏽 THE GOD OF THE UNIVERSE LOVES YOU. ✝️
What a rich and immeasurable blessing it is to know that the God of the entire universe loves us, cares about us, and desires a relationship with us. ❤️

He listens when we pray. He cares about what weighs on our hearts. And He is always willing to hear us and answer according to His perfect will.

And here’s the part that amazes me most… He knows we’ve fallen short. He knows the mistakes we made last week, the struggles we’re facing today, and even the ways we will fall short again tomorrow.

Yet He still chooses us.

He still loves us.

He still calls us closer.

He still offers grace.

He still wants a relationship with us.

That is a love we could never earn and never deserve—but He freely gives it.

So last night, we praised Him! 🙌🏽
We thanked Him for His grace.
We seeked his presence.
We brought our hearts before Him.

🔥 SUNDAYS AT AWAKEN CHURCH 🔥

Series: DOES THE GOSPEL STILL MATTER?
📖 Romans 1:16–17

Today’s Message: “BUT I GO TO CHURCH”
📖 Romans 2:17–19

The Gospel still matters because knowing the truth isn’t the same as living transformed.

You can go to church. You can know Scripture. You can know what is right and what is wrong—and still not allow God to change your heart.

There is a difference between showing up and truly being present with the Lord. 🙏

📖 The Bible isn’t just a book we read—it’s the Word we are called to live.

How can we be transformed by something we never put ourselves into? How can we know Jesus if we aren't spending time in His Word?
Make a meal of the Word. 🍽️📖

Stay plugged into God, because when we disconnect from the Source, we eventually run empty.

God is still working on you. Jesus isn’t finished with you yet!

Remain in the place where He can prune you. Allow the process of sanctification to continue.

Ask yourself:

➡️ What am I not allowing God to deal with?
➡️ Does my knowledge of God's Word produce a transformed life?
➡️ Am I showing up for church, or am I truly present with God?
➡️ Do I want to know God AND be known by Him?

We are called to be a guide to the blind. We are called to hold one another accountable in Christ. And we should have a righteous anger toward our own sin, not an excuse for it.

The enemy will tempt you with things God has already promised you—but they will look better in the moment. The world will distract you. It will numb you. But we cannot pursue the works of the world while trying to fully embrace the kingdom of God.

Leave the past where it belongs.

Let God deal with what needs to be dealt with.

Keep pressing forward.

Keep allowing Him to transform you.

Because religion can't change your heart. Jesus can. ❤️‍🔥

🔥 The Gospel still matters.
Not because we need more religious knowledge, but because we need Jesus to transform our hearts and our lives.
