Model Parent Organization, Inc. Model Parent Organization (MPO) Model Laboratory School was established over 100 years ago on the campus of Eastern Kentucky University.

Model’s purpose is to educate students from Pre-K through 12th grade while providing field experiences for EKU students and demonstrating evidence-based strategies. Enrollment is about 720 students for all grade levels who are served by 86 faculty and staff professionals. As the only laboratory school remaining in the state of Kentucky, Model Lab offers a unique opportunity for interaction among c

ollege faculty, Pre-K through 12th grade faculty, and students of all ages. Outstanding academics place Model in the top of the state on test scores. Model High School was ranked number six in the state of Kentucky for ACT scores in 2010. The 46 members of the senior class received over a million dollars in scholarships and over 98% of the students enter college each year. Gifted programs are available for all students in cognitive, academic, arts, creativity and leadership areas. An inclusive approach to special education includes a variety of services and transition programs for the success of all students.

It’s been a busy first week of December for MPO. The kids have had a great time at this year’s Santa’s Workshop purchasing gifts for family and friends. We also provided lunch for all our wonderful teachers and staff yesterday.

The poinsettia fundraiser to benefit Middle School Cheer has filled our library with color and MPO has been busy distributing orders. TODAY before noon is the last day to pick up your poinsettias!

This morning we will draw 6 winners for the grand prizes the students had a chance to win by entering their tickets at the workshop.

Thank you to all of Santa’s Helpers this year for setting and packing up the workshop and wrapping all the gifts the children purchased. You are the best!

A special thank you to Erika Collins who has done all the purchasing for Santa’s Workshop for many years!

It takes many parent volunteers to make these events happen and we’d love to see you at future MPO events!
