Dear Board Members of Engine Company 9 and Associates,

As we recognize Juneteenth, I want to take a moment to reflect on the significance of this day—not only as a commemoration of freedom, but as a continued call to leadership, service, and unity.

Juneteenth reminds us that freedom, while declared, must also be protected, nurtured, and advanced. It is a powerful reflection of resilience, progress, and the enduring strength of our communities. As leaders and stewards within Engine Company 9 and Associates, we carry a responsibility to honor that legacy through our actions, our service, and our commitment to equity and opportunity for all.

Today, I encourage each of us to reflect on how we can continue to uplift our community, support one another, and lead with purpose. Whether through mentorship, outreach, or simply standing firm in our values, our work has impact—and it matters.

Thank you for your continued dedication, leadership, and service. Together, we will continue building a legacy that reflects not only where we’ve come from, but where we are committed to go.

What an uplifting weekend with the Circle of Care Team - Heartfelt Thanks to Dee-Dee and Abraham Teklu for including me among the honorees with three incredible individuals - Chris Tan, Dr. Delk and Mrs Jane Harrison Kennedy - Overton. Memorial Day Message
Engine Company 9 and Associates, Inc.

On this Memorial Day, Engine Company 9 and Associates, Inc. pauses to honor and remember the courageous men and women of the Armed Forces and public safety community who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation.

We reflect with deep gratitude on the lives of those who answered the call to protect others, placing duty above self and service above personal safety. Their bravery, sacrifice, and unwavering commitment to freedom and protection remain a guiding light for all who serve in fire, emergency response, and public safety professions.

As members of the fire service and emergency response family, we understand the weight of sacrifice and the sacred responsibility of standing ready when others are in need. Today, we recommit ourselves to honoring their legacy through excellence in service, integrity in action, and compassion in every life we touch.

To the families who carry the memory of their loved ones, we extend our heartfelt respect and enduring gratitude. Your sacrifice is not forgotten, and your heroes live on in the values we uphold each day.
