The 17th Cohort of Backpack to Briefcase has completed THREE powerful sessions and the impact has been intentional.

👔 Dressing for Success with Darryl Tyler, owner of Tailored Gents at Savile Row, reminded our students that presentation is power. When you look prepared, you feel prepared.

☕ Our Career Café, powered by Eric Madkins of Regions Bank, created real conversations about financial literacy, career pathways, and long-term strategy.

🧬 Tracey Hermanstyne Jordan shared initiatives from Washington University School of Medicine and how STEAM is shaping the future of opportunity.

🎯 And Jami Ballentine challenged our cohort to network with intention not just collecting contacts, but building strategic relationships that set you apart.

We have ONE more session left on March 21st.
Then it’s go time: Interviews. Followed by the Scholarship Awards Ceremony. 🏆

From backpacks to boardrooms…the transformation is happening in real time.

If you know a student who needs exposure, mentorship, scholarships, and opportunity… this is the room.

February 21st, we successfully hosted Session II, with 25 students in attendance representing a strong cross-section of emerging leaders from across the region. The session focused on professional readiness, personal branding, and mindset development as students continue competing for scholarship opportunities and preparing for life after graduation.

Our students heard from an exceptional lineup of speakers who delivered powerful and practical insights:

Kenyatta Holmes, Best-Selling Author and Project Manager, provided a dynamic session on optimizing LinkedIn for employment opportunities. She also introduced students to practical ways to leverage AI as a strategic career tool, equipping them with modern tactics to stand out in today’s competitive job market.
Dr. Jordyn Norde, Pharmacist, Motivational Speaker, and proud Backpack to Briefcase alum, spoke on the critical transition from student to professional. She challenged students to maximize their individual talents and align their skills with the lifestyle and career outcomes they desire.
Laurence Maroney, Retired NFL Player, closed the session with an impactful fireside chat highlighting his rise to success, hard-earned lessons, and life after football. His central message emphasized the importance of believing in oneself and prioritizing mental health throughout one’s journey.

Another successful and historic opening session for Backpack to Briefcase 🎒➡️💼

Students who attended the first session received valuable lessons from key leaders at Ameren, gained real-world insight from Backpack to Briefcase alumni on how to navigate the program and apply it to everyday life, and participated in a master class on résumé writing and interview skills.

And here’s the best part — it’s not too late.
You, your student, a friend, or a relative can still sign up. In fact, we’re encouraging you to do so today.

Opportunities don’t always knock twice — sometimes you have to open the door yourself. 🚪✨
