We’re proud to stand alongside our partners at the Tazewell County Sheriff’s Office, Tazewell County Department of Social Services, the Tazewell Police Department, and Cumberland Mountain Community Services Board. Their commitment goes far beyond their day to day roles. They show up for our kids, support our mission, and help create a safer, stronger community for every child we serve.

During Child Abuse Prevention and Awareness Month, we’re especially grateful for the way these organizations help protect, support, and advocate for children. It’s clear in every interaction that they truly care, and that kind of partnership makes all the difference.

Together, we continue to raise awareness, strengthen prevention efforts, and stand up for the well-being of every child in our community.

April is Child Abuse Prevention and Awareness Month, and we’re proud to stand alongside our community in spreading awareness and support for children and families.

This week, we had the opportunity to participate in events across our region—first with the Tazewell County Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office, then the Buchanan County Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office, and most recently with the Buchanan County Department of Social Services. Each stop was a reminder of how important it is to come together, raise awareness, and take action to protect our children.

We will continue meeting with our other community partners throughout the month as we work together to make a lasting impact.

Thank you to everyone who continues to support this mission and helps create a safer, stronger community for the children we serve!

We’re excited to introduce the incredible team behind the Care Center.
Each member brings compassion, experience, and a true passion for supporting children and families in our community. While much of their work happens behind the scenes, the impact is truly life changing.
Take a moment to meet the people who make this mission possible.

🧸📚 BUNDLES OF HOPE – A Back-to-School Mission of Compassion

As the new school year begins, many of us are busy with back-to-school prep—buying new shoes, packing backpacks, and cheering on our athletes.

But some kids are starting school in the middle of something much harder.

💜 They’re waking up in shelters.
💜 They’ve witnessed violence or suffered abuse.
💜 They’re walking into class carrying trauma, not supplies.

That’s why we’re launching Bundles of HOPE—a community-wide effort to collect comfort kits for children in crisis. These will be delivered to Harper’s Home, The CARE Center, DSS, CASA, and more.

🎒 Each bundle will include small, comforting items like:

Stuffed animals
Soft blankets
Cozy socks or slippers
Coloring books and crayons
Fidget toys or stress balls
Hygiene items or journals
📦 DROP-OFF WEEK: August 25–29
📍 Location: Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office at the Buchanan County Courthouse

🌟 WE INVITE EVERYONE TO JOIN US:
✔️ Sports teams
✔️ Classrooms
✔️ Civic groups
✔️ Church youth groups
✔️ Local businesses
✔️ Families who want to teach compassion

If your group wants to help, we’ll send you a flyer and list of items. Just message us!

🧸 Let’s make sure no child walks into school feeling forgotten.
Let’s give them something soft. Something safe. Something kind.

Because Buchanan County Lives in HOPE—and we want the whole community to show it.
