Welcome to October!

Please Note: with the lazy days of summer officially behind us, we’re returning to “Coat & Tie” for stated meetings (although, your presence & participation are more important, so don’t let a wardrobe malfuntion stop you from attending).

The Stewards plan to serve Lasagna and garlic bread with side salad in the dining hall at 6PM for those who arrive early for food and fellowship.

The Masonic Family Outreach Committee (MFOC) will meet in the library at 6:30 PM prior to the stated meeting to begin preparations for the annual Holiday gift card campaign. If you’re interested in helping the pillared officers of the lodge honor our extended Masonic Family members this holiday season, please join us.

Meeting Agenda: The Treasurer will be leading a discussion on potential investment opportunities, followed by a brief presentation on the impotance of ritual in our ongoing journey into further Light in Masonry.

As a gentle reminder, please tuck a little folding money into a pocket so your’re ready to participate in some philanthopy when the hat is passed in lodge.

On Monday October 19th, Most Worshipful Christopher C. Haynes, Grand Master of Masons of the Grand Lodge of Washington will be our special guest for a dinner of Tri-tip, salad, and rolls, with a special meeting to follow. Please be sure to mark the date on your calendars and plan to join us!

Brothers,
With the astronomical equinox marking the official end of summer and the start of fall in the Northern Hemisphere, tonight’s stated meeting will be the last time we will be regularly observing business casual attire this season for our stated meetings.

In the month of October we’ll be returning to coat and tie for stated meeting attire. The Temple board will meet in the library at 6:30 PM prior to the meeting. The stated meeting opens at 7 PM in the Lodge room at the sound of the gavel in the east.

IMPORTANT CORRECTION BELOW (the next stated meeting is 9/21/2026):

As days grow shorter and temperatures trend lower, we anticipate returning to the first and third Mondays of the month for regular stated meetings following the Labor Day holiday.

That schedule is as follows:
Meeting Times
* 1st Mon @ 7:00 PM
Every month; except Jul, Aug, Sep
No January meeting if it lands on New Year's day.
* 3rd Mon @ 7:00 PM

During the summer months several brothers continued their labors, most recently raising Bro. Zane Elledge to the sublime degree of Master Mason just last Monday, August 31, 2026

We truly appreciate seeing the creativity that other lodges apply when it comes to getting brothers engaged in the work!

REMINDER: ONLY ONE WEEK left before the first-ever Virginia Masonic Ritual Proficiency Contest to be held on August 1, 2026, at Newport News Scottish Rite in Newport News, Virginia.

When: Saturday, August 1, 2026
Time: Check-in 9:00 AM, Kickoff 9:30 AM
Where: Newport News Scottish Rite, 65 Saunders Rd, Newport News, VA 23601
Entry Cost: $40 per Lodge or Team (Proceeds to the Grand Lodge Library & Museum)

A ritual proficiency competition hosted by Warwick Lodge No. 336 and Smithfield Union Lodge No. 18. The contest will be officiated by the members of Committee of Work (COW). Awards will be presented by the Grand Master. All Lodges under the Grand Lodge of Ancient Free and Accepted Masons of Virginia are welcome to participate.

It was an honor and a privilege to take part in raising three brothers to the sublime degree of Master Mason on Saturday. Joined by several brothers from Walla Walla, the sitting Masters of neighboring lodges, District deputies, and Past Grand Master Most Worshipful Roger Nelson who delivered the Charge to the newly raised brothers. It was a good day to be a Master Mason.
