What an incredible week of Women Build to celebrate Women in Construction week! 🩷💪👷♀️🔨 (See before and after below)!
We had the opportunity to bring women from across our community together through hands-on volunteer projects and classes all centered around learning, connection, building, and empowerment.
This year was especially meaningful as we worked to transform the community space at the Tri City Union Gospel Mission Women and Children’s Shelter. Over the course of the week, volunteers came together to demo the space, paint walls, build tabletops and buffet tables, and bring the entire vision to life. Along the way, many learned how to safely use power tools and build valuable construction skills, all while supporting the missions of Habitat and residents at UGM!
This 100+ year-old building came with its challenges... Starting with a single electrical outlet for the entire room! A huge thank you to Absolute Power TC for stepping in to upgrade the electrical and provide safe, working outlets. We’re also so grateful to Sherwin Williams on Clearwater for donating paint, Victor M Reyna Gutierrez for leading our painting class, and to Tri-City Lumber for supplying the wood and materials for our build classes! 💡🎨🪵‼️
A special shoutout to our incredible core group of volunteers, who truly made this week possible. From cutting wood and repairing drywall to installing cabinets, flooring, and more, your dedication and willingness to teach has made a lasting impact to so many, and we are so grateful to have you! 👷♂️🛠️
Because of this collective effort, the space is now a bright, welcoming environment for women and children to gather, and that’s something truly special 🩷🧑🧒🧒
Together, strong women build strong communities. 💪🏘️
