A ballot posted in your local mailbox is picked up and transferred to your local post office and then trucked to Spokane to be sorted and postmarked. Use a DROPBOX instead.

🚨 USPS changes = ballots may not be postmarked on the same day they are mailed. And ONLY ballots that are postmarked by Election Day are counted.

We recommend using a secure ballot drop box to return your ballot, but if you need to mail your ballot, mail it ASAP -- and definitely by Oct. 27 (the recommended date by USPS). After Oct. 27 we recommend that you hand it directly to a postal clerk and request a postmark at the counter.

Ballot drop boxes are open until 8 pm on Election Day (Nov. 3). Find ballot drop boxes ➡️ https://www.sos.wa.gov/elections/voters/voter-registration/drop-box-and-voting-center-locations

The top frame shows Jim pointing at a whiteboard that reads: "Ballots can't just be mailed on Election Day." And the bottom he is sitting next to a whiteboard that reads: "The must be postmarked by Election Day."

The most common reason ballots are challenged is because the signature on the ballot doesn't match the signature on file for the voter.

When a ballot is challenged, voters will be contacted by their local elections office with instructions on how to 'cure' their ballot. Ballots that are 'cured' will be counted. Most ballots that need 'curing' are from voters younger than 35 because they have less consistent signatures.

Ballot signature tips:

✅ Make sure it matches what's on file for you. It doesn't have to be written in cursive, nicely, or even legibly. If you have a "chicken scratch" signature, that's okay!

✅ Registered online? Your signature on file comes from the Dept. of Licensing -- so your signature should match what is on your driver's license.
