Mid-Columbia Symphony Originally formed during World War II, the Mid-Columbia Symphony has been a vital cultural resource for the Mid-Columbia region for over 75 years.

For more than 75 years, the Mid-Columbia Symphony has been a vital cultural resource for the Mid-Columbia region. Originally formed during World War II, primarily from the ranks of Hanford workers with a love for music and a desire for fellowship, the Symphony evolved through the years to become a respected cadre of dedicated, talented amateur artists performing under professional direction. Today

’s Symphony is a fully professional organization, with more than 40 of the region’s finest professional musicians under annual contract and 30 artists from outside the region contracted for individual concerts. Our programming is designed to entertain and enrich the wonderfully diverse population of the Mid-Columbia region. The Symphony produces four to seven concerts annually, frequently contracting with featured guest artists and collaborating with other regional performing arts organizations. Mid-Columbia Symphony musicians also perform for other community events, including operas, festivals, and memorial concerts. As part of our education program, we organize and sponsor an annual Young Artists Competition and feature the winners in one of our concerts each year. Many of the finest musicians in the region were nurtured through this program. Educational outreach is one of our main goals here at the Mid-Columbia Symphony. We strive to maintain a Music in Schools program and work with youth in our Mid-Columbia Youth Orchestras program. Vision

Last week, we had the pleasure of gathering with some of our most dedicated supporters for an intimate Living Room Concert, featuring the beautiful music of our principal harpist, Chelsea Spence-Crane

There is something truly special about experiencing live music in an intimate setting, and sharing it with the people who make the work of the Mid-Columbia Symphony possible.

A heartfelt thank you to Sheila Gephart and Ron Harman for opening their home and graciously hosting this special evening, and to Chelsea for aharing her incredible talent with us. We are so grateful for the opportunity to celebrate our supporters in such a meaningful way.

We're already dreaming up what our next special evening might look like. We can't wait to share it with you!

Today, our cellist George Winter brought a little live music to Frost Me Sweet Bakery & Bistro as part of our MCS Pop Up series!

These short, unexpected performances are one of our favorite ways to bring the symphony into the community. And we love seeing the reactions when people find themselves enjoying the live music!

When children have the chance to hold and try real instruments at our Instrument Petting Zoo, something magical can happen. A single moment of curiosity can spark a lifelong love of music—or help a young musician discover the instrument they're meant to play.
