Life of Liberty Project A place where people and businesses in our Tricities, Washington community and beyond can come toget

Something for our community to be aware of: we have recently spoken with at least three separate businesses who have received their new unemployment insurance rates for the year. Their rates have gone up astronomically - between 300 and 600%! The government says they cannot open, or at least have to operate under severe restrictions, and to pay for unemployment for the employees that they’ve been FORCED to lay off, they get to pay that same government waaaayyyyy more money. Our small businesses are suffering; they cannot survive these lockdowns much longer. Businesses who follow our page: feel free to comment (if you feel comfortable doing so) your increased rates below and what that means for your business so the community can understand the impact on you!

A reopening proclamation is scheduled for discussion at the Benton County Commissioners meeting, taking place at 9am this Tuesday, 1/12/21. The draft is being presented by Commissioner Will Mckay, and has been endorsed by the Benton County Republican Party at their monthly meeting recently held.

- email them directly at [email protected] Tell them how you or your business has been adversely affected by the shutdowns and ask that the proclamation be approved.

- you can make a public comment at the commissioners’ meeting by calling in to 5094604941. Make sure to call ahead of the meeting time so you will get a chance to speak.

- you can also watch the meeting at

Tonight at the Pasco city council meeting, a draft ordinance will be presented by Councilman Pete Serrano, which would effectively reopen the city of Pasco. It will be item 11a on the agenda. If you would like to support this action, there’s a few things you can do!
1. Call the council - the number to reach them at is 5095543404. Be kind. The lady answering the phone and taking messages is not a council member and she will probably be getting a lot of calls today.
2. Email the council directly. Their email addresses can be found here: https://www.pasco-wa.gov/Directory.aspx?did=4
3. If you are a Pasco resident, you can make a public comment at the council meeting by signing up here: www.pasco-wa.gov/publiccomment Must sign up by 4pm.
4. You can also just attend the meeting. Show up at Pasco city hall at 6:45. The address is 525 N 3rd Ave. Pasco WA 99301

Here’s an interview we just conducted with local restaurateur Saber Sterling Sterling's Restaurant - On The River. She did an incredible job explaining the difficulties she and many others are facing during this lockdown. We hope to bring you more of these soon. If you’re a local business who would like to be heard, please let us know!

Saber lays out the effect the lockdown has had on her business and employees.
