Windom Community Garden

Windom Community Garden Located at the corner of Nicollet Ave and W 62nd Street in SW Minneapolis.

Since its creation in 2012, the Windom Community Garden has worked to create a gardening space that provides opportunities for people to grow their own food, increase healthy activity, get to know their neighbors, learn from each other and create a productive and beautiful commons in an urban area. The goals of the Windom Community Garden include:
• Growing healthy produce for families in the com

munity
• Providing an educational opportunity for children
• Provides gardening opportunity for townhome and apartment residents without yards for home gardening.
• Foster a sense of community among a diverse, transient population

Developed from a former MNDOT construction staging area, the Windom Community Garden has grown by leaps and bounds since its creation and now counts over 50 individual gardeners as its members and contains 44 garden plots (15 4ft x 20ft plots and 29 4ft x 10ft plots) as well as communal herb spirals, berry beds, and fruit trees.

HOW TO CUT RHUBARB

"Find a stalk on your rhubarb plant that’s ready to be picked. Grasp the stalk near the bottom. Lean it to the side and in one motion gently twist and pull the stalk up. The stalk will pop and separate from the rhubarb plant at the root, and come cleanly away."

Thank you to Everyone that made it out to the Garden Clean-up Day! 🧹😃

We look forward to seeing everyone at the Work Weekend - Saturday May 16th & Sunday May 17th

* 10am and 1pm shifts on Saturday. One 12pm shift on Sunday.

* During the weekend we will top off beds with compost, prune trees
and shrubs, repair raised beds, and perform any additional maintenance
needed at the garden before planting begins.
