Applications close on June 23rd! Joining our Local is a fantastic way to serve the citizens of Richfield and become part of a long standing Union, the IAFF.

L1215 has been negotiating our contract since 1955. What does this mean for you as a member of our Local? It means: working conditions that our members have fought for, benefits for both you and your family and competitive pay.

Richfield Fire is hiring!

Before we get into the meat of this post, we want to let everyone know: NO MORE LIVING RESTRICTION!

While we could show photos of our members doing awesome things on shift: training, doing fantastic public education for the fine citizens of Richfield, or going on the 5000+ calls we run each year; we wanted to show a different side of our members.

We want to show potential firefighters (and anyone else who may be curious) photos of our members outside of work. L1215 is a Union that truly enjoys spending time together outside of work. A few things you may find us doing off duty are:

• Biking around the Twin Cities area. Worried you have kids and this won’t work for you? (Notice the burley in the back behind Brother Krieter!)

• Hunting on one of our member’s land up North.

• Participating in an annual golf fundraising event with our awesome mutual aid partner Edina Firefighters IAFF Local 1275

• GoRuck Events. Not sure what those are? Think carrying heavy things for 12+hours overnight.

• Vikings game watch parties. We even have a few Packers fans as part of the Union…

These are just a few photos of our fantastic, dedicated members living their lives outside of work. Thinking this is your kind of Union and Department to join? Apply today! Any questions? Leave them in the comments or send us a message!

P.S. We have an extremely strong contract (negotiating for decades). We pay for experience.

Over the weekend, your L1215 firefighters responded to a garbage truck on fire. While this may seem like a run-of-the-mill fire, what added to this call, was this garbage truck was fueled by natural gas. Firefighters were able to access the gas shut off on the truck, once these were shut off firefighters were able to extinguish the flames. L1215 is grateful for our mutual aid partners: Bloomington Firefighters Local 5484 and Edina Firefighters IAFF Local 1275.

Yesterday, your L1215 took some time in the nice weather to practice a “tank transfer”. Some questions you might have:

What’s a tank transfer? A tank transfer refers to our second arriving engine transferring their water to the first due engine.

Why not use hydrants? Aren’t they on every block? Great question! To ensure your firefighters get to their crucial life and property saving tasks on a fire scene, this method is often faster than connecting to a hydrant.

Is this something new? While the method isn’t new, your L1215 firefighters train often to ensure we can perfect our craft for the fine citizens of Richfield!

Leave your other questions in the comments! Have a safe week! 🚒🇺🇸🧯

Your L1215 Firefighters and their families spent part of their Memorial Day Weekend cleaning up trash in Taft Park. These types of events are two fold: 1) Keeping Richfield parks clean for citizens to enjoy 2) Camaraderie amongst the locals members and their families. Have a safe Memorial Day weekend! 🇺🇸

Yesterday your L1215 firefighters spent part of their Saturday cutting wood and honing our forcible entry skills. These skills ensure during an emergency, we have the necessary ability to make entry. While we do what we can to minimize damage, there are times where forcible entry is needed.
