This morning I want to thank my friends and people I very much respect and admire at Unidos MN for nominating me for this recognition for "radical leadership."

"This year, we're honoring the instinct to show up for your neighbors. Twenty-six individuals across the Twin Cities will each receive a $1,000 Radical Leadership Award for the mutual aid work they did during Operation Metro Surge."
I have the privilege and blessing of leading a lovely community of faith that is dedicated to the revolutionary work of building relationships one at a time with people who are different from ourselves. This takes a lot of time and and energy. It was counter-cultural when we began 12 years ago and even moreso now. But this is a glimpse into the kingdom of God here on this earth.
Tapestry also has the joy of being part of Richfield where we've been able to become an integral part of this entire beloved community where people stepped up, and continue to do so, all over the place to be neighbors to each other.
We are supported as well by a number of churches and the Minneapolis Area Synod, ELCA, and we are so grateful for this.
There are individuals who have supported this ministry as well as well as many who have supported me personally. I'm afraid to begin naming them because I know I will miss too many even if I name many.
I realize this is sounding like an acceptance speech for an Oscar or something, but it's been a challenging, to say the least, couple of years and today feels like a good day to express my gratitude.
This is a lovely recognition and I truly do accept it on behalf of the courageous and faithful people, especially our kids and youth, of Tapestry Richfield, MN.

Esta mañana quiero agradecer mis amigos/as y gente a quien respeto y admiro un montón en Unidos MN por nominarme por este reconocimiento por el "liderazgo radical."

Tengo el privilegio y la bendición de liderar una linda comunidad de fe dedicada al trabajo revolucionario de fortalecer relaciones una por una con gente diferente a nosotros/as mismos/as. Toma mucho tiempo y energía. Fue contracorriente cuando empezamos hace 12 años y ahora es más aún.
Tapestry también tiene el gozo de ser parte de Richfield donde hemos podido formar una parte integral de esta comunidad amada donde nuestros/as vecinos/as de levantaron, y siguen levantándose, en todas partes para apoyar a sus vecinos/as.
También nos apoyan varias iglesias y el Sínodo de Minneapolis, y estamos muy agradecidos.
Hay individuos que nos han apoyado también este ministerio y también a mí personalmente. No quiero empezar a nombrarlos/las porque me faltarán muchos/as aunque nombro muchos/as.
Me doy cuenta que ésto parece discurso para aceptar un Premio Oscar o algo así, pero estos últimos dos años han sido llenos de desafíos y hoy parece bonito día para expresar mi gratitud.
Es un bello reconocimiento, de verdad, y lo acepto por parte de la gente valiente y fiel de Tapestry, y en particular nuestros/as niños/as y jóvenes.
