❀️ **SIGNS YOUR PARENTS MAY BE NEEDING MORE HELP**

Sometimes the signs that an aging parent needs additional support are subtle. You may notice little things before they become a bigger concern.

Keep an eye out for:

🏠 **The house is becoming unusually cluttered or unclean.**

🍽️ **They're skipping meals, losing weight, or having trouble preparing food.**

πŸ’Š **Medications are being missed, taken incorrectly, or running out.**

πŸ’΅ **Bills are going unpaid or finances seem more difficult to manage.**

πŸš— **Driving has become more concerning** β€” new dents, getting lost, or difficulty navigating familiar places.

🧼 **Personal hygiene or laundry habits have changed.**

πŸ“ž **They're missing appointments or having difficulty keeping track of important dates.**

🚢 **They're having more difficulty walking, getting around, or getting up from a chair.**

πŸ˜• **They're becoming more isolated** or no longer participating in activities they once enjoyed.

🧠 **You're noticing increased confusion, forgetfulness, or difficulty managing everyday tasks.**

One sign doesn't necessarily mean your parent can't live independently. But **several changes together may be a sign that it's time to have a conversation about additional support.**

Most importantly, don't wait for a crisis.

**Start the conversation early, involve your parent in the decisions, and look for ways to support their independence and safety.** ❀️

πŸ“Œ **Save this post and share it with someone who may need it.**

While caregiving can be rewarding, it often comes with significant financial, emotional and workplace challenges. AARP.org/caregiving has some great resources.
