Daniel J. Parzych Memorial Fund

Daniel J. Parzych Memorial Fund We've started a memorial fund in Dan's honor so that those who knew and loved him can support the causes close to his enormous heart.

Dan Parzych was tragically killed on May 22, 2020, at the age of thirty-three. His friends and family shared and continue to share countless stories about Dan doing amazing, unexpected, and selfless things to help others, simply because that's who he was. We are a group of Dan's family and friends committed to sharing Dan's passion for all things good and kind with our local communities. We've sta

rted a memorial fund in his honor so that those who knew and loved him can support the causes close to his enormous heart. We are a 501(c)3-designated non-profit that supports local causes and needs that align with four pillars central to Dan's life: community, family, sports, and animals. We seek to make small, impactful differences with great love. Because of your generosity, we've been able to make meaningful differences in our local and national communities since our founding in June.

- We partnered with DonorsChoose to launch '33 Deeds for Dan.' We funded 33 unique projects honoring the things, places, and causes Dan loved. We raised and donated $5,350 and helped 8,043 students

- We directed funds to Lulu's Rescue, a nonprofit that rescues and adopts out dogs in need

- We established a relationship with Athletes Helping Athletes, Inc., a local non-profit that pairs special needs athletes with mainstream student-athletes. Our $2,500 donation will help AHA create and translate programming that is both socially distant and accessible

- We donated $2,000 to St. Vincent de Paul's Holiday Basket Program to honor Dan and his friends' volunteering tradition of packing and transporting gifts and food for the drive

- We held a drive for local food banks to help alleviate need during this difficult time. The Fund jumpstarted this event with a $500 donation

We were beyond thrilled to join our friends at last night for their annual fundraiser. IM ABLE recognizes that traditional fitness options often overlook the needs of individuals with physical or perceived limitations. IM ABLE challenges this reality and opens the door to inclusion, empowerment, and opportunity through adaptive equipment grants, inclusive fitness programs, and supportive events. Last year we partnered with IM ABLE to provide a custom basketball wheelchair for one of their athletes (whose team is now going to nationals!!!), and this year we increased our contribution to be a sponsor of this event and all 2026 IM ABLE events.

Everyone deserves the chance to move, play, and feel the strength of being active. Yet for many people with disabilities, that opportunity is blocked by physical, financial, and social barriers. The IM ABLE community exists to change that. Together, they make sure adaptive athletes arenโ€™t just included, but are empowered to accomplish their goals, set new ones, and thrive.

SNAP support will not be available for recipients beginning November 1, due to the government shutdown. Beyond this immediate need, cuts in federal funding will reduce critical SNAP support by between 6 billion and 9 billion meals each year for neighbors facing hunger.

At this incredibly difficult time, the Daniel J Parzych Memorial Fund is honored to donate $5,000 to fund 10,000 meals for our neighbors in southeastern PA and NJ.

Philabundance works with over 350 community partners partners in 9 counties throughout Pennsylvania and South Jersey to provide food to people who need it. In addition to food distribution, they strive to reduce food waste, increase access to nutritious meals, and tackle the root causes of hunger through programs such as the Philabundance Community Kitchen.

If you are able, please consider donating to a food pantry in your area. Cash donations enable these organizations to buy in bulk at a much lower cost than traditional retail.

Well, Dan was definitely looking out for us. The weather called for a nor'easter with high winds and a 95% chance of rain. We not only woke up to an overcast but dry fall day, but you SHOWED UP. We're so thankful to the many sponsors and volunteers who donated their time, resources, and money to put this event on in honor of Dan. We couldn't do it without you.

Save the date for October 11, 2026!

Deed 33: Learning English
William H Loesche Elementary
Philadelphia, PA

We purchased whisper phones, mirrors, dry erase markers, magnetic letters, and wall maps for English language learners at William H Loesche Elementary in Philadelphia, where nearly all students come from low-income households.

Mr. Veeraraj writes whisper phones are a valuable tool for early readers. By using them, students can hear their own voice as they read, which helps them self-correct their pronunciation and improve their reading fluency. This direct auditory feedback is also great for phonics instruction and can be used for speech therapy exercises. Mirrors are excellent for social-emotional learning (SEL) and can be used across K-5. Younger students can use them to identify and name different emotions on their faces. Older students can use them to practice making eye contact and express themselves during public speaking or presentation practice. Magnetic letters are a cornerstone of early literacy instruction. This kit provides a hands-on way for students to learn phonics, build CVC (consonant-vowel-consonant) words, practice sight words, and learn letter sounds.

33 Deeds for Dan is a partnership with DonorsChoose in which the DJPMF funds 33 unique projects leading up to Dan's birthday on October 6. This campaign honors Dan's philosophy of doing small kindnesses with great love, and each project has been chosen by Dan's friends and family to honor the communities and causes that were important to him.

The 5th(!) annual DJP Fund Fall Festival is occurring Sunday, October 12, from 12:00 - 5:00 PM at Graeme Park in Horsham, PA.

Both a fundraiser and celebration of Danโ€™s life, the festival will feature games and crafts, a beer garden, and raffle baskets.
Last year was HUGE, with perfect weather. We had over 300+ attendees.

Willing to volunteer for a couple hours? We would love to have you! Please contact Christen at [email protected] for more information. All volunteers will receive a DJP Fund shirt, and we are happy to certify hours for high school- or college-age volunteers. We are even LINCS certified!

Tickets are once again $20 for adults and $10 for children. Children under two do not require a ticket. Childrenโ€™s tickets include all activities and games. Adult tickets include five raffle tickets.

Those purchasing pre-sale tickets have the option to โ€˜bundleโ€™ a festival t-shirt with the price of their ticket for only $10โ€”a 50% savings over day-of-festival merch pricing!

Please visit our festival website for more information about donating raffle items, becoming a sponsor, and/or volunteering with us. In-kind and financial contributions are tax-deductible.
We look forward to a bigger, better, and equally as sunny festival this year.
