Daniel J. Parzych Memorial Fund We've started a memorial fund in Dan's honor so that those who knew and loved him can support the causes close to his enormous heart.

Dan Parzych was tragically killed on May 22, 2020, at the age of thirty-three. His friends and family shared and continue to share countless stories about Dan doing amazing, unexpected, and selfless things to help others, simply because that's who he was. We are a group of Dan's family and friends committed to sharing Dan's passion for all things good and kind with our local communities. We've started a memorial fund in his honor so that those who knew and loved him can support the causes close to his enormous heart. We are a 501(c)3-designated non-profit that supports local causes and needs that align with four pillars central to Dan's life: community, family, sports, and animals. We seek to make small, impactful differences with great love. Because of your generosity, we've been able to make meaningful differences in our local and national communities since our founding in June.

- We partnered with DonorsChoose to launch '33 Deeds for Dan.' We funded 33 unique projects honoring the things, places, and causes Dan loved. We raised and donated $5,350 and helped 8,043 students

- We directed funds to Lulu's Rescue, a nonprofit that rescues and adopts out dogs in need

- We established a relationship with Athletes Helping Athletes, Inc., a local non-profit that pairs special needs athletes with mainstream student-athletes. Our $2,500 donation will help AHA create and translate programming that is both socially distant and accessible

- We donated $2,000 to St. Vincent de Paul's Holiday Basket Program to honor Dan and his friends' volunteering tradition of packing and transporting gifts and food for the drive

- We held a drive for local food banks to help alleviate need during this difficult time. The Fund jumpstarted this event with a $500 donation

RAIN CAN’T STOP THE MAGIC! 🪄

We’re thrilled to welcome Jake Strong Magic to tomorrow’s DJP Fall Festival—and his family magic show may be the perfect rainy-day activity!

Jake has entertained thousands of people (and was even featured on NBC10!) with an award-winning, highly interactive show designed for the entire family. Kids will be laughing, adults will be wondering how he did it, and you never know who might become part of the action!

We’ll be gathered beneath our large tents, so come in, get comfortable and enjoy a polished performance filled with original magic, humor, surprises and plenty of audience participation. This is truly an all-ages show that parents will enjoy just as much as their children!

It takes a village—and we’re so grateful for ours.

Behind every wrapped raffle basket and ready-to-go activity is someone who gave their time to help us celebrate Dan.

All week, volunteers have been coming and going, wrapping baskets and taking projects home to finish in the evenings. The chefs did test-runs to perfect the donuts and fritters. Local businesses have pitched in to help spread the word. Even the kids got involved, assembling our activity totes!

This festival comes together because so many people show up, lend a hand, and put their hearts into it. To everyone who helped: THANK YOU.

So we went BIGGER! We’ve ordered even BIGGER tents so all activities will be covered, and we’re ready for a day full of rainy-day fun!

The rock wall will be a game-time decision based on the weather, but there’s still plenty to keep everyone entertained: football, kids’ activities, magic tricks, arts and crafts, craft b**r, cheesesteaks, and gourmet fries! 🏈🎨🍻

There might be rain in the forecast, but we’re prepared! Just like last year, we’ll have extra tents and plenty of shelter to keep the DJP Fall Festival fun going.

And who knows? Maybe Dan will work a little magic and bring us some sunshine—or even just some clouds!

Deed 33: For the Love of the Game 
Katie’s Komets Wheelchair Basketball

And just like that, we’ve reached Deed 33.

For our final Deed for Dan, we’re stepping away from DonorsChoose and ending this year’s 33 Deeds with something a little more personal.

We first met our friend Ciarlo through our work with IM ABLE. Ciarlo joined our basketball team during the fundraiser’s wheelchair basketball tournament—and thankfully he did, because we needed the help! He coached our players, taught us the rules, and helped us figure out a sport he knows and loves.

Now Ciarlo is turning 16, and he had one request for his birthday: help support Katie’s Komets, his junior wheelchair basketball team.

Ciarlo has spina bifida and has faced significant health challenges throughout his young life. But adaptive sports—and this team in particular—have become an incredibly important part of his story.

Katie’s Komets gives children with disabilities the opportunity to compete in sports while developing independence, confidence, physical strength, friendships, and a community of teammates who understand them.

But adaptive sports can also be expensive. Tournament travel can mean trips of three hours or more, and specialized basketball wheelchairs can cost thousands of dollars.

In Ciarlo’s own words:

“Being part of the Katie’s Komets Jr wheelchair basketball team is such an important part of my life. This team and this sport saved me.

For my birthday, I would love if anyone would consider donating $16 for my 16th birthday to help offset the large cost of being involved in adaptive sports! THANK YOU!!”

Ciarlo once gave his time, patience, and basketball knowledge to us. For his 16th birthday, we’re honored to return a little of that kindness with a $250 donation to Katie’s Komets in his honor.

And we can’t think of a better way to finish.

For Deed 33 we get to help a kid we do know—a pretty incredible 16-year-old who once helped us learn a new game and reminded us firsthand just how powerful sports can be.

Deed 32: Getting Stronger

For Deed 32, we’re heading back to Mr. Dixon’s gym at Juniata Park Academy to build on something we started just two Deeds ago!

For Deed 30, we helped Mr. Dixon introduce more structured strength training into his physical education program. But we weren’t quite finished.

Mr. Dixon’s students bring plenty of energy and enthusiasm into the gym, and many are young athletes preparing for the increased physical demands of high school sports. He wants to make sure they have the equipment—and, more importantly, the instruction—to learn how to build strength safely and properly.

So for our thirty-second Deed for Dan, we helped add more dumbbells and a dedicated storage rack to the program.

The equipment will allow students to progressively build strength while learning proper form, balance, body awareness, and muscular endurance. They’ll be able to set personal fitness goals, track their progress, and develop healthy habits that can follow them into high school and well beyond athletics.

Mr. Dixon shared this note with us:

“Thank you so much. Your generosity means the world to me and my students. Doing strength training with middle schoolers is essential to get them ready for high school and sports.

My school is filled with young athletes and this will help them work on their personal goals. Thank you so much.

Our friends at Spuddy Buddy Fry Factory are once again bringing the Spud Mobile to the DJP Fall Festival!

Based in Newtown, PA, Spuddy Buddy was founded by Elisa and Eddie, two former New York City professionals who shared a dream during the pandemic of building something together and spending more time side by side. They transformed an old plumber’s truck—affectionately named “Daisy”—into the Spud Mobile, serving creative, artisanal French fry dishes throughout Pennsylvania and New Jersey.

And these are definitely not your ordinary fries!
