Announcement of Closure

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the closure of the Wake Drive Food Pantry after four years of dedicated service to our community. This decision has not been made lightly; it stems from the need to focus more on family commitments and the ongoing challenge of securing sufficient volunteers to manage our scheduling.

Closure Details:
• Final Pantry Days: We will remain open for two additional pantry days, with the last day of operation being Saturday, December 8th

Distribution of Remaining Resources:
After our final day, all remaining supplies and donations will be distributed as follows:

• Half will go to a food pantry in Garland, which has generously supported us over the years.

• The other half will be donated to the newly established pantry at Pioneer Technology & Arts Academy of North Dallas (PTAA), located at Arapaho & Coit.

Donations:
We will continue to accept donations at our home address, and all future contributions will directly benefit the pantry at PTAA.

A Word of Thanks:
We are immensely grateful to this community for your unwavering support. What began as a modest initiative evolved into a significant community resource due to your generosity and involvement. Your support has made a tangible difference in many lives, and for that, we extend our heartfelt gratitude.

Thank you for being a part of our journey.

Did you know?

The Wake Drive Food Pantry runs entirely on volunteer effort and private donations!

When this project was started, the idea we wanted to try was to see if community service efforts such as a food pantry could be performed without any government involvement at any level. Well, it has been challenging; however, we have made it work and with a little luck and a lot of hard work, we are now serving around 60 families twice a month. We thank our community for stepping up and proving our thesis that food security can be addressed at a local level without the entanglements of government bureaucracy.

That said, we are opening up this Sunday, October 8, 2023 for our Pantry Day and we can certainly use some donations to be able to get fresh fruit, vegetables, and other necessary yet rarely donated items. And we always welcome food and supply donations via direct drop off or Amazon deliveries!

Please consider helping us reduce food insecurity in our community. Our donations have been great; however, we (Chris and Cally) have been funding the purchase of most of the fresh fruit, vegetables, and other necessary yet rarely donated items out of our own pocket. We would love some help. Please consider contributing or volunteering!

Howdy folks!

This week is a run up to our next pantry day. In case you haven't been following along, things have gotten busy in the past month! We are serving more families than every before, and that means we need your help with food and supply donations along with cash contributions.

You can drop off food donations anytime at our location, but we also ask you to consider setting up a subscription with Amazon or any of the other suppliers of groceries. You can view our wish list here -> https://ccr.foundation/Pantry/Wishlist

Cash donations can be also be made via our website. One time donations are great, especially if your place of business does matching donations. We also ask that you consider just a small bi-weekly or monthly subscription. Learn more at https://ccr.foundation/Pantry

As we enter into the holiday season we expect demand to rise and we don't want anyone to go without food over the holidays. Please consider donating today and support your friendly neighborhood food pantry.

We had 49 families come to our food pantry today. That is a record since we started this project in 2020.

49 families...wow.

It was a great day yesterday supplying 31 families with food and supplies. We had an avalanche of donations throughout the week leading to a virtual cornucopia of fresh and frozen foods including a mountain of bread and a full table of vegetables!

We could never do this food pantry at this level with just the directors and the volunteers. This is only possible because the community has risen up and provided. We thank all our volunteers and donors for helping us help others.
