🔍️ A Texas drought uncovered at least 60 dinosaur tracks hidden for millions of years.

Researchers raced to document them before the river rose again.

On this day in 1925, physics laureate Werner Heisenberg submitted a paper that revolutionised quantum mechanics.

Heisenberg was only 23 years old when he submitted the paper "Quantum mechanical reinterpretation of kinematic and mechanical relations". For this theory and the applications of it which resulted especially in the discovery of allotropic forms of hydrogen, Heisenberg was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics for 1932.

His new theory was based only on what can be observed, that is to say, on the radiation emitted by the atom. We cannot, he said, always assign to an electron a position in space at a given time, nor follow it in its orbit, so that we cannot assume that the planetary orbits postulated by Niels Bohr actually exist. Mechanical quantities, such as position or velocity should be represented, not by ordinary numbers, but by abstract mathematical structures called “matrices” and he formulated his new theory in terms of matrix equations.

Lagoon Nebula (M8) is a large emission nebula located 5,200 light-years in Sagittarius. Nasser Alsolihem captured this image from Kuwait using Orion EON 130-mm Triplet refractor, SBIG STF-8300M camera, and narrowband filters back in June. On the night of July 30 into the early hours of July 31, two meteor showers will reach their peak at roughly the same time. The Southern Delta Aquariids could scatter numerous faint streaks across the sky, while the Alpha Capricornids may produce fewer—but much brighter—fireballs.

Ken, the reason I stopped following your teaching wasn’t because I wanted to fit evolution or millions of years into the Bible. At the time, I was fully convinced that the Young Earth Creationist reading was the only faithful reading of Scripture. I wasn’t looking for a way out — I was trying to make sure what I was teaching about Scripture actually came from Scripture.

That’s what changed everything.

I began reading Genesis using the historical‑grammatical method — the same method you encourage everywhere else. I started paying attention to the historical and cultural context, the grammar, the literary structure, and how ancient audiences understood these texts — the same methods I used to defend the rest of Scripture in my apologetics. And once I did that, I realized something unsettling: the conclusions I had inherited from modern YECism were not coming from the text itself. They were coming from a modern interpretive tradition layered onto the text.

So, I changed my views because Scripture is my authority, not a system built to defend a modern scientific interpretation of Genesis.

That’s why your explanation here is inaccurate. You say Christians who see an old earth “start with man’s ideas” and “reinterpret God’s Word.” But that assumes your conclusion before examining the argument — it’s a Bulverism fallacy. It doesn’t engage the actual hermeneutics, the actual exegesis, or the actual historical context. It simply asserts that anyone who disagrees must be compromising biblical authority because they are sinful.

But that’s not my story.

I didn’t leave YECism because of science. I didn’t leave because of pressure. I didn’t leave because I wanted a different outcome. I left because when I finally applied the same interpretive principles to Genesis that I applied everywhere else, the text itself forced me to reconsider my assumptions.

If anything, I left YECism because I wanted to be more faithful to Scripture, not less.

And once I saw that the young‑earth framework wasn’t actually demanded by the text — and wasn’t held by the majority of Christians throughout history — I could no longer treat it as a test of biblical authority.

My commitment to Scripture didn’t weaken. It deepened. And that’s precisely why my views changed.

Died on this date, April 21, in 1793, the English natural philosopher and clergyman John Michell, educated at Queen's College, Cambridge, who discovered that the force between magnetic poles varies inversely as the square of the distance between them. In 1767, Michell became Rector of Thornhill, now a suburb of Dewsbury, Yorkshire. Sometime in the early 1770s, he played music with the great astronomer William Herschel and gave Herschel his first telescope. In 1784, Michell deduced the existence of what are now called black holes from Newton's corpuscular theory of light and suggested that some stars might have dark companions. He also devised and built the torsion balance for determining the universal gravitational constant, G, but died before having the chance to use it. The balance was passed to the Cambridge physicist F. J. H. Wollaston, and from him to Henry Cavendish, who used it at his house in London and is often, mistakenly, identified as its inventor.

Sorry ICR, but the Bible does NOT teach that there was no animal death before Adam's sin.

Here's a short answer:

The Bible does not teach that animal death started at the fall. The Bible ties human death to Adam's sin, but nowhere ties animal death to human sin. The relevant passages are in Genesis 3, Romans 5, Romans 8, and 1 Corinthians 15, and none of these teach the YEC doctrine of no animal death before the fall.

Only God is inherently immortal. Humans, created in the image of God, may share in his immortality. Animals, on the other hand, are not created in the image of God, and the Bible nowhere teaches that animals were created to be immortal. If animals were not created to be immortal, then animal death before the fall does not negate the goodness of God or the goodness of his creation.

Faithful readers of God's word are not obligated to believe the YEC doctrine of no animal death before Adam's sin.
