Happy Imbolc!!!

Ancient tales sometimes tell of the divine hag or Mother Earth gathering her firewood for the rest of the winter during the first two days of February, known as Imbolc. Legend has it, that if Mothe…

A fire brings out the soul, sparking something deep within us. Flame whispers into the deep dark night that our secrets are safe, disappearing as a smoke filled offering under a moonlit sky.

That is where I first learned of, and still feel closest to the creator. Sitting around that fire was where I felt best. The other people around me were the same people I saw every day. They weren’t wearing their church masks or pretending to be anything else because we were all the same.

We were bikers, so we belonged.

There was a culture of inclusion. We told the truth, and we loved each other, supported and protected each other. There were clear boundaries, expectations, and real consequences.

That is what I strive for, in creating Circle.

I want to share my version of God, felt best next to flame, surrounded by truth and nature.

I want real people who want the real me.

January’s Full Moon is known as the Wolf Moon, after the wolves that are more active during the night in the early parts of the year.

The name is thought to have been brought over to America by early European settlers, therefore having a Celtic and Old English origin.

Duriving from the fact that, during the colder months, wolves tend to hunt broader areas during the full moon, as the extra light makes for an advantage during the later hours of the night, when nocturnal creatures begin to emerge.

I’m sure we all know the idealistic image of the ancient silhouette of the lone wolf arching its head up, howling towards the heavens.

Howling is actually done as a form of instinctual communication. Wolves howel in this way, after being separated, in order to draw the pack back together.

During this time of year, as open enrollment begins. I envision a beautiful wild wolf calling in her pack, just as we are pulling in our tribe, growing and gaining strength in numbers, because when women come together, great things happen!!!!!

It is the most magical time of year!!

This ancient practice, know as a Simmer Pot is a natural way of cleansing your cauldron filling your home with delicious smells and magical aromas.

The mixture isn't intended for consumption, as this is used for cleansing purposes only.

A common practice that can be incorporated into the tradition, that I find quite intriguing, is to find leaves that contain antibacterial and antimicrobial properties for your simmer pot ingredients. The cleansing properties help disinfect your cast iron and the leaves can be used to write intentions or release words, and watched as the water boils them away, casting them into the superconscious mind.

This activity is for cleansing the pot, as well as your home so you will be using ingredients with pleasant aromas such as raw cranberry, cinnamon sticks, orange peeling, pinecone or rosemary. Another ancient tradition derived from the cauldron that can be incorporated into your holiday goal setting ritual, is to give your simmer pot ingredients a job to do.

Assign an intention each one, clover for attracting abundance and wealth, rosemary is for wisdom, cranberry for health, orange peel for happiness, pinecone for growth, and cinnamon for thick skin and letting go.

Each ingredient that your family chooses will then have a symbolic purpose, reminding the whole family what they are attracting and letting go of in the following year.

When choosing intentions and matching them with ingredients, don't over think it. There are no specific requirements. The ingredients themselves aren't doing much, the magic happens in the minds of each person as they participate.

So, choose whatever feels right and give it the job that comes to you. It's that simple. You are now an official Christmas witch. Congratulations ♡

Happy Samhain, &&& First Quarter Moon!

This year is flying by. Can you believe, it's already November?

Today's moon is what I refer to as the Action Moon, which is my personal favorite. I can always feel the shift, can you?

What are you feeling called to take action on today?

Anytime a person casts judgment on another, it is a reflection of the unhealed parts within themself that they are afraid to admit, acknowledge or to let the world discover.

The emotions related to being judgmental come from shame. Shining the light on other people's shadow may feel like diverting it away from our own. As long as nobody sees our wound we hope it will be as though it doesn't exist.

I have heard stories about people breaking bones. While refusing to admit that the bone is broken, they allow the fractured fragments to fuse back together. Eventually the pain is too much, forcing them to accept reality and see a doctor.

But, in order to repair the bone right, it must be rebroken and set back together correctly, before applying the cast. This allows the body to do its job. Things have to be in the right place to connect. Sometimes we have to take a step backward and that's okay.

We all break. Admitting the problem, that is the first step. I am broken. F**k. Then understanding that we aren't suffering from a new wound but an old wound we have finally acknowledged.

Then, sometimes, we must re-break in order to heal correctly. If we go through life thinking that ignoring or hiding the pain will make it go away, we will never truly move forward.

By beginning to truly accept each other, without expectation or judgment, that is how we truly start to accept ourselves. When we approach other people with an open heart and an open mind, that is when the real healing begins.

When we meet in circle, we give ourselves permission to be our true selves. Sharing both the healed and unhealed parts of ourselves. When a woman shares her scars without fear, she gives another woman permission to acknowledge the unhealed parts within herself, and that is a truly beautiful thing.
