Celebrating Togetherness: The Cradle of the Texas Republic Sponsored by the Montgomery Historical Society and the Henderson Yoakum and Lone Star Chapter of the Sons of the Republic of Texas. Montgomery Community Center 12-3pm; Celebrations open to the public 3pm-6pm. Come celebrate with us! Dianne Kebodeaux is the leading lady of the Signers of the Texas Declaration of Independence. She is a go-getter and a member of several Texas Historical organizations and a joy to be around. Her love of Texas history is profound. Recently, a statue of her ancestor from Tennessee, Colin McKinney was placed in honor in Collin county.

The event will mark the end of nearly three years of debate regarding the subject.

Scott Collier, Chairman of the Walker County Historical Commission, will be presenting on the rich history of Walker County. The major claim to fame for Walker County Historical Commission is that they head the Sam Houston Birthday Celebrations in Huntsville on March 2nd every year. Scott Collier is a great guy to meet- and has had some fascinating endeavors!

Vanessa Burzynski, Grimes County Clerk, is also a member of the Grimes County Historical Commission and a treasure of knowledge about Grimes County history. She has done some amazing work restoring and moving the archives to a new building in Anderson and digitization efforts of primary documents. She has also done some great work on newsletters for the commission.
