On Thursday, July 16, 2026, Eric Voorhis was sworn in with Northampton County Sheriff's Office as our newest full-time Deputy Sheriff.

Deputy Eric Voorhis recently graduated from Basic Law Enforcement Training with the 17th Basic Academy class at Edgecombe Community College. He also has served with our Detention Center for almost three (3) years as a Detention Office.

Deputy Eric Voorhis has been assigned to our Patrol Division and has begun his Field Training with an experienced Field Training Officer.

Please help us congratulate Deputy E. Voorhis on his accomplishment and new role.

Today, at 2:25 p.m., Chief William “Billy” Ivey went home to be with the Lord. Chief Ivey honorably led our department for 22 years, dedicating his life to serving this community and those around him. His legacy of servant leadership, unwavering commitment, and genuine care for others will live on in the hearts and minds of the men who served alongside him and were blessed to call him Chief and friend.

Please continue to keep Mrs. Sara Ivey and the entire Ivey family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
