As we close out the year, we want to extend a sincere thank you to everyone who has supported the Rice’s Landing Volunteer Fire Department throughout the year. Your donations, time, and continued support have helped us proudly serve and protect our community for the past 100 years.
One hundred years ago today The Rice’s Landing VFD responded to its first fire call the Downey House fire in Waynesburg.
Today, we pause to remember and honor the five Waynesburg firefighters who lost their lives just days before Christmas:
• Fireman Harvey Call, 22
• Fireman William Finch, 25
• Fireman Joseph Rosenberg, 21
• Fireman James Thurman Long, 29
• Fireman Victor Silvers, 24
Their sacrifice and dedication to protecting their community will never be forgotten.
As we reflect on where we began and all those who have come before us, we are grateful for the community that continues to stand behind us. Your support ensures we remain ready to serve today, tomorrow, and for generations to come.
From all of us at Rice’s Landing VFD, we wish everyone a happy holiday season and a safe, healthy New Year.
