Recently at the Blue Hills Lodge Christmas Party the Brothers celebrated many “Milestone Anniversaries” of brothers who have reached 25, 50 and 60 years of being a Freemason. One Brother unable to join in the festivities was Bro. Ernest Forward.
Bro. Forward celebrated his 68th year as a Master Mason having been raised on May 27th, 1957. The Lodge wanted to be sure that although he was not able to join in at the party, he was recognized for his milestone. Reaching 60 years is quite a feat and one that the Brothers of Lodge #234 shared with him.
Lodge WM, Bro. Mike Volkert was able to set aside some time during the hustle and bustle of the Christmas season to pay him a personal visit and present him with his plaque, card and commemorative coin. Congratulations Bro. Forward!

Blue Hills Masonic Lodge was proud to support the Rice Lake School District's "School Snack Program" again in 2025-26. Together with the Masonic Grand Lodge of Wisconsin they were able to donate $1500 towards the nutritional needs of school district students.

The Masonic Grand Lodge of Wisconsin offers a dollar for dollar matching funds program to their local Lodges for community activities just like this and Blue Hills Lodge was thrilled to be able to support this matching funds program with money raised through their "Meal With A Peel" dinner held each fall.

Blue Hills Masonic Lodge #234 recently held their Annual Christmas Party, this time at their home Banquet Hall. There were roughly 45+ members, “Ladies” and family members in attendance this year….a great turnout!
A delicious meal of grilled chicken and “cheesy” potatoes was enjoyed by all in attendance and catered by Burdy’s Catering of Weyerhaeuser. A big thanks to Bob and Lynda Burdorf for putting together an awesome meal! They were great to work with and they didn’t disappoint.
One area of this year’s party to draw significant applause was the Christmas decorations and tableware. All of the items used were donated by Al Schneider, father-in-law of Bro. Mike Richter upon the request of Lady Amy Richter. It was always her mom’s desire to decorate to the “max” especially Christmas…that was her favorite holiday. A big thanks to them for their support and generosity, Bev would have been very proud.
Also, a big thanks goes out to this year’s Christmas Party Committee for putting in the hours of decorating, arranging and getting the word out to our members. Those folks include: Jane and Bro. Bob Olsen, Bro. Duke Thurs and Amy & Bro. Mike Richter. Well done team!
Finally, along with celebrating Christmas was a celebration of several Brother who achieved milestone anniversaries of 25, 50 and 60+ years with the Masons. A good number were able to attend and be recognized by our special dignitaries: Danny Bourassa – Grand Lodge “District Deputy” and Jeff Schoenfeldt – Grand Lodge “Worshipful Grand Master”. It is a special honor when they are able join us, especially for evenings like this. Thank you Brothers!
Thank you to all who were able to attend, and we are already looking forward to 2026!

Blue Hills Lodge Raises Three to Master Mason

Monday, December 1st, Blue Hills Lodge had the honor of hosting the raising of three Brothers to the degree of Master Mason. After many weeks of diligent work with Counselor, Bro. Larry Ganske and Bros. Snell and Mears: Sterling Nieman, Josh Murley and Gary Larson were welcomed by the Lodge and bestowed the grip and aprons of a Master Mason.
The evening could not have been a success without the help of many Brothers from other Lodges in District 1. It is with their continued support that Blue Hills Lodge 234 has been able to successfully raise several new Brothers to Master Mason in recent years. A sincere and heartfelt “Thank You” goes out to them.
We look forward to adding our newest Brothers’ contributions to the Lodge and Rice Lake community. Welcome Brothers!...

On Monday, October 27th, the Brothers of Blue Hills Lodge #234 along with many of their much-better half's held the 3rd Annual Meal With A Peel, loaded potato dinner for our friends from Rice Lake and surrounding communities. The Lodge Brothers sold a record 191 Potato Dinners which netted over $2000.00 to be used in support of community programs like the "Rice Lake School District Student Snack Program", as well as needed repairs & updates to the Lodge and Hall.

A very special thanks goes to several supporters: Cousin's Restaurant (Donation), Lehman's Supper Club (Donation), Bro. & Mrs West (Kitchen Kleen Potatoes/Nuto Farms Donation, Table Centerpieces/Decorations), the Lodge Ladies (Planning, Dessert Bars and Work Support), Bro. Thurs (Ticket Selling Machine) and Nikki Kohel (Potato Prep and Supply Support). Without the generous donations from these folks, this would not have been as successful an evening as it was. Most importantly the Lodge Brothers would like to thank all of our friends who supported us by attending the dinner....a big shout out to all of you!

Planning for our next "Meal With A Peel" will begin soon and we look forward to hosting our friends again in 2026!

For the second year in a row the Brothers of Blue Hills Masonic Lodge along with the Grand Lodge of Wisconsin were able to donate to the Rice Lake Middle School Bowling Team with a $500 donation.

This donation will help the players with their team shirts and various expenses associated with traveling to their matches and practices.

A special thanks goes to our friends in the community who support the Lodge during the various fundraisers. Without your actions, we would not be able to support our local youth with their endeavors.

Pictured with the team coaches is Brother Greg Tinker (Treasurer) presenting the checks.

At Monday's Fellowcraft Degree Ceremony, our Lodge was presented with two "Lodge" awards from our District 1 dignitaries in attendance. The first was earning a Silver with our Lodge Planning Guide and the second was earning the most new members award for District 1.

The Lodge Planning Guide is a form marking our completion of certain annual Grand Lodge requirements. This year all Lodges in District 1 earned an award (Gold, Silver or Bronze).

Finally, our Lodge initiated the most new members of any Lodge in District 1 earning us that award (picture attached) for 2024-25. A big shout goes out to Brother Larry Ganske for all of his dedicated work in preparing our newest Brothers and to those Brothers who helped him complete this important process.
