📚✌🏼 Our families FIGHT ON, READ ON, and MAKE HISTORY!
The Rialto Unified School District proudly celebrated the first cohort of families to complete the USC Family Program with a festive Completion Celebration on Saturday afternoon at the Bovard Auditorium on the campus of USC.
Families were honored for their hard work and dedication in the program as well as their determination to make literacy and lifelong learning a priority within their family. While draped with special RUSD/USC stoles, our awesome program completers excitedly crossed the stage to receive their certificate while being cheered on by family, friends and RUSD staff!
More than 100 parents and guardians made history as they completed this rigorous program, which was born of the RUSD’s partnership with the prestigious University of Southern California. For several years, the District, in partnership with USC, has offered the USC Reading and Literacy Added Authorization program for teachers and this year brought a similar program to our families. Learning starts at home so it was only appropriate to offer this unique program to our families. Participants spent a school year learning about how children learn and grow and how they can help them along the way.
Thank you to the RUSD Board of Education (which had two members complete the program — Board Clerk Mrs. Evelyn P. Dominguez, LVN, and Board Member Dr. Stephanie E. Lewis), RUSD Acting Superintendent Dr. Ed D’Souza, and leading the USC program, RUSD Lead Strategics Agent Dr. Rhea McIver Gibbs, and Program Coordinators Mrs. Jennifer Lim and Mrs. Rebecca Baty, and our very own RUSD teachers who helped guide the program. Your support made this celebration possible. We are thrilled that so many families and friends attended to support our RUSD families, with additional support from RUSD Administrative, Education, Business, and Personnel Services. ❤️💛
