“For it is written, Rejoice, barren woman who does not bear; break forth and shout, you who are not in labor; for more numerous are the children of the desolate than of the one who has a husband.”

As we in America begin our Independence Day celebrations with family and friends at cookouts, hours in the pool or at the lake, and with fireworks; take some time to thank God for the freedoms we have every day.

As Christians, we thank God for physical and spiritual freedom made available to us through Jesus Christ. May this holiday remind us of the true freedom that we can experience. Enjoy the festivities of the 4th of July and celebrate our nation's freedom, give thanks to God for the freedom from sin He has given us and for the new life we have in Him - for today and eternity.

Father God, thank you for the privilege of living in this great country where we have freedom to openly worship you. We pray that we never take that privilege for granted, and that we will always guard it and treasure it. Lord, we pray that we do not live in apathy towards You but live in awe of Your love and forgiveness that You freely poured out for us. Allow our light to shine brightly as our hearts turn to You. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.

Have you noticed the wildflowers this spring? They seem to be popping up everywhere. Along the highways, in open fields, in the cracks on the sidewalk, and even on your lawn. The wildflowers bring the bees, butterflies and ladybugs. The bright colors are so cheerful and happy!

But what if you don't feel happy, and the wildflowers bring you NO cheer? What if when you see the wildflowers, all you can think of are weeds? Don't worry, you're not alone. Just because the earth is in spring doesn't mean you have to be.

But think about this...

Wildflowers are a visual reminder that winter is over, and spring has arrived. Even if you feel like your life might be in a different season and you are feeling out of synch; let the spring wildflowers encourage you. A new and fresh season WILL come to you in the Lord's perfect timing. Keep faith that the Lord is directing your steps, and He can bring about a new thing even from the desert.

No matter what season you find yourself in; take time to stop, look, and smell the flowers. They are here for only a season!

“How wonderful and beyond our knowing, O God, is your mercy and loving-kindness to us, that to redeem a slave, you gave a Son.”

The Resurrection

John 20
New American Standard Bible
The Empty Tomb

20 Now on the first day of the week Mary Magdalene *came early to the tomb, while it was still dark, and *saw the stone already removed from the tomb. 2 So she *ran and *came to Simon Peter and to the other disciple whom Jesus loved, and *said to them, “They have taken the Lord from the tomb, and we do not know where they have put Him.” 3 So Peter and the other disciple left, and they were going to the tomb. 4 The two were running together; and the other disciple ran ahead, faster than Peter, and came to the tomb first; 5 and he stooped to look in, and *saw the linen wrappings lying there; however he did not go in. 6 So Simon Peter also *came, following him, and he entered the tomb; and he *looked at the linen wrappings lying there, 7 and the face-cloth which had been on His head, not lying with the linen wrappings but folded up in a place by itself. 8 So the other disciple who had first come to the tomb also entered then, and he saw and believed. 9 For they did not yet understand the Scripture, that He must rise from the dead. 10 So the disciples went away again to their own homes.

11 But Mary was standing outside the tomb, weeping; so as she wept, she stooped to look into the tomb; 12 and she *saw two angels in white sitting, one at the head and one at the feet, where the body of Jesus had been lying. 13 And they *said to her, “Woman, why are you weeping?” She *said to them, “Because they have taken away my Lord, and I do not know where they put Him.” 14 When she had said this, she turned around and *saw Jesus standing there, and yet she did not know that it was Jesus. 15 Jesus *said to her, “Woman, why are you weeping? Whom are you seeking?” Thinking that He was the gardener, she *said to Him, “Sir, if you have carried Him away, tell me where you put Him, and I will take Him away.” 16 Jesus *said to her, “Mary!” She turned and *said to Him in [a]Hebrew, “Rabboni!” (which means, Teacher). 17 Jesus *said to her, “Stop clinging to Me, for I have not yet ascended to the Father; but go to My brothers and say to them, ‘I am ascending to My Father and your Father, and My God and your God.’” 18 Mary Magdalene *came and announced to the disciples, “I have seen the Lord,” and that He had said these things to her.

Jesus among His Disciples

19 Now when it was evening on that day, the first day of the week, and when the doors were [b]shut where the disciples were together due to fear of the [c]Jews, Jesus came and stood in their midst, and *said to them, “Peace be to you.” 20 And when He had said this, He showed them both His hands and His side. The disciples then rejoiced when they saw the Lord. 21 So Jesus said to them again, “Peace be to you; just as the Father has sent Me, I also send you.” 22 And when He had said this, He breathed on them and *said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit. 23 If you forgive the sins of any, their sins [d]have been forgiven them; if you retain the sins of any, they have been retained.”

24 But Thomas, one of the twelve, who was called [e]Didymus, was not with them when Jesus came. 25 So the other disciples were saying to him, “We have seen the Lord!” But he said to them, “Unless I see in His hands the imprint of the nails, and put my finger into the place of the nails, and put my hand into His side, I will not believe.”

26 [f]Eight days later His disciples were again inside, and Thomas was with them. Jesus *came, the doors having been [g]shut, and stood in their midst and said, “Peace be to you.” 27 Then He *said to Thomas, “Place your finger here, and see My hands; and take your hand and put it into My side; and do not continue in disbelief, but be a believer.” 28 Thomas answered and said to Him, “My Lord and my God!” 29 Jesus *said to him, “Because you have seen Me, have you now believed? Blessed are they who did not see, and yet believed.”

Why This Gospel Was Written

30 So then, many other [h]signs Jesus also performed in the presence of the disciples, which are not written in this book; 31 but these have been written so that you may believe that Jesus is the [i]Christ, the Son of God; and that by believing you may have life in His name.

A Great Song for Passover/Good Friday.

Friends. As we continue to walk through Holy Week, I am meditating on the world scene that surrounded Jesus. The Romans were on the throne, conquering and controlling everything around them in hot pursuit of World dominance. People were worshipping many gods, the temples were filled with debauchery and whoredom, offering all forms of human sacrifice to the idol god of their choice.
The Jews were divided into different sects, each driven by their strict interpretation of the law.
The iron fist of politics and religion held the once free people captive.
Yeshua, now known as Jesus, walked down cross-lined roads, suffocated by pain, greed, corruption, wickedness, oppression.
He knew His purpose.
He came to set the captive free.
He knew the plan set before the foundations of the world.
Oh the pain the Man of Sorrows faced, each step deeper into the polluted world He had made perfect for the suffering ones surrounding Him. A wicked world in need of a Savior.
If you find yourself weighted by the unbearable pressure of the wickedness surrounding you, read Psalm 94.
The Lord God, King of the Universe, knows, sees, and in due time will save us from ourselves.
Come, Lord Jesus, Come again! We need You. We have always needed You. We need You now!

Good morning. Reflecting on Holy Week. People all over the world are commemorating the week where Jesus made preparations for His death, burial, and resurrection, spent precious time with His friends, pleaded with His Father, and in the greatest wrestling match between Flesh and Spirit, surrendered His Will to His Father's Will.
In His surrendered state, He took the journey laid out for Him before the foundations of the world were laid.
Lord, help us follow You to the greatest place of surrender. Help us to live out fully what we were created and purposed to do before You laid the foundations of the world in place.
We worship You. You alone are Holy and Worthy. You alone are King of kings and Lord of lords!! Thank You for Showing us The Way, Making The Way, Being The Way. Help us Holy Spirit to follow The Way Maker.
For in You is Life.
