Build Our Soul Foundation is a non-profit organization with a focus on at risk youth. Our activities are geared toward mentoring and coaching at risk youth on:
>Being ethically and morally responsible.
>Taking ownership of their future.
>Being accountable for their actions.
>Finding their true purpose
>Building their self-esteem.
We want to support the youth through our enrichment center in the areas of 1 on 1 mentoring, Academic Support, Basic Etiquette and Social Skills, Christian Education, Fit for Life, Own Your Own, Community Responsibility, and Round Table Discussions. Our programs fall into 7 major categories: BEHAVIORAL, EDUCATIONAL, CERTIFICATION, LABOR READY WORKFORCE, VOCATIONAL, COMMUNITY EVENTS AND SOCIAL CLUBS. We will address anger management, to help guide our youth and give them ideas on how to address and solve issues in a more constructive way. BOSF's certification program on CPR, First aid/AED and babysitting will teach youth to care about the well-being of others. On Your Own, under our labor ready program teaches young people a trade i.e. the culinary arts, auto mechanics, painting, drywall and landscaping.
The educational program will help youth complete what they have started in getting their GED or high school diploma, or college prep classes and site visits to prepare them for higher education. BOSF's community and events programs will help youth appreciate their community and the importance of giving back. Events will be held throughout the year allowing youth to foster friendships and gain volunteer experience by cleaning neighborhoods, local parks and churches. We will offer an arts and crafts fair and trips to museums. Fit for Life is for our sports minded youth to interact, learn teamwork and challenge themselves in a competitive environment. We don't want to forget that it's important that our youth are healthy, so we will connect them to resources that will do dental, vision and annual checkups.
We want to hear from our youth and opening the lines of communication is necessary if we are to break barriers between adults and youth interaction. We want to know where they stand on the issues that are important to them and our round table discussions is geared for that and there will be plenty of open dialogue with guest speakers and mentors to discuss hot topics such as sexting, bullying, peer pressure and low self-esteem. Also, our youth will have opportunities to lead their own open discussions on selected topics.
We will sponsor 100 boys and 100 girls annually. Our programs and activities will help at risk youth discover their talents and skills and apply them daily. We are building soul's one child at a time.
