We recently got asked about the meaning behind our logo and realized we’ve never actually shared the story! Here is the significance behind the design:
Our logo is a combination of a sunflower and sun-rays representing a rising sun. Here is why we chose those two elements:
The Sunflower -
There are two main reasons we incorporated the sunflower into our identity:
1.) It was the favorite flower of Kathrine Holyoak. We lost Kathrine four years ago (almost to the day), and she was the catalyst for creating this nonprofit. We think of her every time we see one.
2.) Heliotropism: Sunflowers are heliotropic, meaning they literally turn to follow the sun as it moves across the sky. They constantly orient themselves toward the light and away from the darkness—which is exactly what we strive to help those grieving a su***de do.
The Sunrise -
A sunrise signals the beginning of a new day and the end of a dark night. As our name implies, we help people recognize the “Sunrise”- those glimmers of hope, light, and joy that can still exist, even after a devastating loss.
We always love getting questions about the , so keep them coming!🌻☀️
