Organizing starts with a plan, and it gets stronger when we work together.

Today in Scranton, Mid-Atlantic Regional Organizer Jorge Bonilla, Vice President and Regional Manager Philip Ameris, Local 484 Business Manager Estefani Garcia, and Mid-Atlantic Director of Organizing Keon Shim came together to strategize around an organizing campaign and the opportunities ahead.

These are the conversations that turn into action. Organizing new workers, growing our Locals, and creating more opportunities for working men and women to experience the strength of a LIUNA contract.

That’s how we grow our Union and continue our .

This weekend was all about our members, our families, and the communities that make LIUNA strong.

We had a great turnout across the Mid-Atlantic as Local 572 brought members and their families together for its Annual Family Cookout in Portsmouth, while Local Seven Ten helped families get ready for the new school year with its Backpacks & Shape-Ups event in Baltimore.

From food and drinks to health screenings, giveaways, school supplies, and plenty of time spent together, both events were a chance to connect away from the job site and enjoy what being part of the LIUNA family is all about.

A big thank you to everyone who helped organize these events and to all of our members and families who came out and made the weekend such a success.

Strong Locals. Strong families. One Union.

From the training center to the job site, this is what building the future of our Union looks like.

Continuing their time in West Virginia, LIUNA General President Brent Booker, Mid-Atlantic Regional Manager Philip Ameris, and WVLDC leadership visited the West Virginia Construction Craft Laborers’ Training Center before heading into the field to see our members at work.

It means a lot to have our General President spending time right here in the Mid-Atlantic, not just hearing about the work being done, but meeting our members, visiting our training centers, and getting out on the job sites to see it for himself.

And there was plenty to see. From the training that prepares our members for the work ahead to the skilled Laborers putting that training to work every day, West Virginia is showing what it means to invest in our people and create opportunities for the next generation.

Creating opportunities. Developing skilled Laborers. Putting our members to work. That’s how we continue building our Union.

Proud of our West Virginia brothers and sisters and grateful to GP Booker for taking the time to be there with them.

A special thank you to WVLDC Business Manager Jessie King, the training center staff, and all of our Local Business Managers and Business Agents for the work they do every day for our members and for making these visits possible.
