🌟I’m honored to be featured in Bold Journey Magazine and to have the opportunity to share the story behind Cindy’s Legacy.

💜What began as a way to honor my mom’s memory has grown into a mission of helping cancer patients and their families navigate one of life’s most difficult journeys. I’m grateful for every donor, volunteer, partner, and supporter who has helped make that possible.

🎗️In this interview, I share how Cindy’s Legacy came to be, what inspires me to keep going, and why living with purpose has always been at the heart of this work.

For 35 years our mom Cindy was a full-time hairstylist who worked hard every day serving her clients. Like many hairstylists and similarly independent workers, she didn’t have employer-sponsored health insurance (and the ACA marketplace was not yet available).

Then she was diagnosed with brain cancer.

Literally overnight, she lost her ability to work, 100% of her income, and the health coverage she had been trying to renew. Medicaid made it possible for her to receive the treatment she needed while her application was pending, giving her access to vital care.

Cindy’s story isn’t unique. Every day, hardworking Americans are one diagnosis, accident, or health crisis away from losing both their income and their healthcare.

Medicaid exists for these moments. It’s a safety net that helps ensure people can access critical care when circumstances beyond their control leave them vulnerable.

Healthcare shouldn’t disappear when people need it most. ❤️
