Getting Involved in Reston The Reston Association (RA) truly values the benefits that volunteers bring to the community.

Each year, community members donate thousands of hours to the Association in a variety of different areas. Some for longer-term and others for short-terms commitments. Either way, the varied talents and interests of each individual are matched with the right project or endeavor to provide a rewarding and enjoyable experience. The RA volunteer program consists of about 500 active volunteers, working in a variety of capacities and settings.

This Earth Month Corporate Day of Service brought teams from Cooley LLP, Electrify America and ATPCO. Volunteers rolled up their sleeves in Reston to remove invasives, plant trees and native species, spread mulch, and clean up the community. Their donation to Friends of Reston helped bring these projects to life. Thank you for your hands-on support and commitment to building a cleaner, greener community.

Happy Volunteer Week! Thank you to all of our dedicated volunteers!

RA formally recognized that dedication during the Annual Members’ Meeting on April 14 with its 2025 Volunteer Reston Service Awards.

The Volunteer of the Year award was presented to William O’Brien, who has served for more than 13 years as a volunteer photographer. O’Brien’s work goes beyond capturing images. His photographs preserve the energy and joy of Reston’s events while his bright, welcoming presence sets the tone for gatherings across the community.

Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service at Reston Association was an incredible success thanks to the strong partnership of Reston Community Center, The Closet of the Greater Herndon Area and over 70 dedicated volunteers. Volunteers showed up with energy, compassion and a commitment to serve. Volunteers helped price and packaged toys, made 200 snack packs for the Embry Rucker Community Shelter, and picked up bags of litter around the Cathy Hudgins Community Center at Southgate.

Together, we honored Dr. Martin Luther King Jr's legacy by turning his message into action. Your service made a real impact in our community.

Spread Joy This Season! Support the SLHS Food Pantry TODAY from 10am - 2pm .North Point Village Center - across from Truist Bank

We're excited to team up with the South Lakes High School Food Pantry for a holiday food drive, ensuring students and families have access to essential items during the holiday season!

Please bring donations to "stuff the Reston Camps van" with unopened/unused/unexpired non-perishable food, paper products, and laundry products on Saturday, November 15, from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. at North Point Village Center.
