There’s something about this image that stops me in my tracks.

Before breastfeeding was debated in comment sections… before anyone argued about whether a mother should “cover up”… before pumps, feeding apps, schedules, and unsolicited opinions…

there was simply a mother, her babies, and her body doing what it was made to do.

Human beings have been fed at the breast for thousands upon thousands of years. Kings were nursed. Farmers were nursed. Artists, soldiers, mothers, rebels, entire generations of humanity were once babies at somebody’s breast.

And somehow, in 2026, we’re still having to remind people that breastfeeding isn’t obscene.

Look at this sculpture.

Nobody carved shame into her face. Nobody carved a nursing cover over her. Nobody made her apologize for taking up space.

They carved motherhood.

They carved nourishment. They carved dependence, strength, tenderness and survival.

Breastfeeding isn’t some new movement women are trying to force society to accept.

It is one of the oldest human stories there is.

We’re not trying to make breastfeeding “normal.”

We’re trying to remind the world that it always was.

No Baby Should Go Without a Clean Diaper
During Virginia Diaper Need Awareness Week, September 14–20, 2026, we’re asking our community to stand with Northern Virginia families who are struggling to afford diapers. When a family runs out of diapers, a baby may spend longer in a wet or soiled diaper—putting their health at risk. Parents may be forced to miss work or school because childcare providers require an adequate supply of diapers which can affect a baby’s health, a parent’s livelihood, and a family’s financial stability.

That’s why your support matters! Every box of diapers donated—and every dollar given—helps provide a clean, dry diaper to a local baby or child in need.

Our goal is to raise $10,000 and collect 100,000 diapers during Virginia Diaper Need Awareness Week - September 14-20, 2026. Zeffy provides an online donation form (which includes an option to contribute toward processing fees at a level you choose, or simply select $0.)
