Eid Al-Adha is approaching and we inquired about Qurban / Udhia for this Eid in Gaza ( see the video ). It is very scarce to find sheep and to do Qurban and if you find, it cost $4000-$5000 and feed only 20 people. We asked the Shaikh there ( and he came up with this Fatwa ) frozen meet can be replaced in Gaza due to the hardship situation. Usually Qurban in Gaza is $310 and based on this , we are launching a campaign ( inshallah it will be accepted because of our good intention ) . This campaign will feed around 10,000 people ( around 2,000 families ) let us work on this and inshallah we can fulfill our Udhya for this Eid.

لسلام عليكم جميعاً. مع اقتراب حلول عيد الأضحى المبارك، قمنا بالاستفسار عن أوضاع الأضاحي (القربان) لهذا العيد في قطاع غزة (كما يظهر في الفيديو المرفق). لقد تبيّن أن العثور على الأغنام لإتمام شعيرة الأضحية أمر بالغ الصعوبة والندرة؛ وإن وُجدت، فإن تكلفتها تتراوح بين 4000 و5000 دولار، ولا تكفي لإطعام سوى 20 شخصاً فقط. وعليه، قمنا باستفتاء أحد المشايخ هناك (الذي أصدر هذه الفتوى)، فأجاز استبدال اللحم الطازج باللحم المجمّد في غزة، نظراً للظروف المعيشية القاسية والأوضاع الاستثنائية التي يمر بها القطاع. وفي حين أن التكلفة المعتادة للأضحية في غزة تبلغ 310 دولارات، فإننا وبناءً على هذه المعطيات، نطلق حملةً خيريةً (نسأل الله أن يتقبلها منا بفضل نيتنا الصادقة). تهدف هذه الحملة إلى توفير الغذاء لحوالي 10,000 شخص (ما يعادل نحو 2000 أسرة)؛ فلنتكاتف معاً لإنجاح هذه المبادرة، سائلين المولى عز وجل أن يوفقنا لإتمام شعيرة الأضحية لهذا العيد على أكمل وجه.
يرجى التكرم بالتبرع قبل تاريخ 24/5، حتى يتسنى لنا إتمام عملية التوزيع قبل حلول يوم العيد (الموافق 27/5).

International Bazaar ( Mother's Day )- This coming Saturday 5/9.

American Palestinian Women's Association ( APWA ) will be part of the annual International Bazaar ( Mother’s Day weekend ) this coming Saturday 5/9 from 10:00am to 4:00pm at the Islamic center of DC ( 2551 Massachusetts Ave NW, Washington, DC 20008). This bazaar has been around for more than 40 years and it is celebrated annually in the month of May. Some Islamic Countries represented by their embassies or vendors will be there too.

Come enjoy shopping and enjoy the exotic delicious food .
